Tanah Runtuh di Slim River
SLIM RIVER, 2 Disember:
Satu kejadian tanah runtuh dilaporkan berlaku malam tadi di Batu 4 Slim River Perak.
Ekoran daripada kejadian itu, Jalan Kuala Slim ke Felda Besout serta kawasan di sempadan negeri Selangor, ditutup kepada kenderaan berat.
Ketua Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Slim River, Md Zain Mohd Saedin berkata, pihaknya serta beberapa agensi lain masih melakukan pemantauan di lokasi sejak malam semalam.
Menurut beliau, kawasan yang terjejas adalah sepanjang 34 meter, selebar 8 meter dan tanah menggelungsur ke bawah sedalam 45 meter.
Menurut Md Zain, punca kejadian masih disiasat namum beliau tidak menolak kemungkinan salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan berlakunya tanah runtuh adalah disebabkan hujan lebat semalam.
Selani itu beliau memberitahu, pada pagi ini tiada pergerakan tanah berlaku, bagaimanapun situasi tersebut masih dalam keadaan bahaya.
Sehubungan itu beliau memberitahu, jalan tersebut akan dibuka selepas pihak Jabatan Kerja Raya membaiki laluan tersebut dan memastikan ia selamat untuk digunakan kepada semua kenderaan.

Child abducted and molested in Perak
IPOH, June 26:
A 9-year-old girl abducted by a 57-year-old man from the Slim River bus station near here yesterday was molested by the suspect.
Tanjung Malim district police chief Supt Othman Nanyan said prior to the incident, the victim and her sister aged 12, who were pupils of Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Aminuddin Baki Slim River were waiting at the bus station after school around 1.30pm.
The suspect had approached the victim and invited her to follow him into a grey Wira Aeroback car on the pretext of buying books for her, he said today.
“The victim’s sister immediately telephoned their father after realising that she had gone off with the man.”
He said the father, 43, lodged a report at the Slim River police station.
Initial investigations revealed the suspect drove the victim to a Chinese cemetery where he molested her before fleeing the scene.
A woman, driving past the area happened to see the frightened girl running along the Slim Village old route and took her to the Slim River police station.
A medical examination at the Slim River Hospital revealed she had not been raped, he said.
Othman said based on information, police managed to nab the suspect, who was with a woman and a boy, believed to be his wife and son at Taman Desa Idaman near Sungkai here.
“When he was intercepted, the suspect had refused to stop his car and sped to the Slim River toll plaza towards Sungkai town where he hit a commercial vehicle.
“The man also hit a police vehicle at Taman Desa Idaman Sungkai before a police motorcycle patrol unit caught up with him.”

Two badly hurt in nine-vehicle crash
SLIM RIVER, June 24:
Two people were badly injured after a nine-vehicle crash at dawn today, say the Fire and Rescue Department.
The Slim River Fire and Rescue Department responded to the accident shortly after 6.03am.
The collision happened at Km365.9 of the North South Expressway as the vehicles were heading south.
Slim River Fire and Rescue Department acting supervisor Yusli Abdul Latif said a trailer, three 10-tonne lorries and five cars were involved.
“One of the victims was trapped in a lorry and we had to separate the vehicles before we could rescue him.
“Thankfully, 12 others managed to escape relatively unhurt,” he said.
At this point the Fire and Rescue Department is still investigating the actual cause, but it looks like an oil spill from an overturned vehicle played a major factor in this pile-up, said Yusli.
The rescue operation finished at 7.45am.

Bus crash causes 2km crawl
KUALA LUMPUR May 21:
An accident involving a four-wheel drive and a bus has led to a two kilometre traffic jam along the PLUS North-South Expressway.
According to a spokesperson from PLUS, the highway concessionaire, the driver of the four-wheel drive was killed on the spot at the crash which occurred at KM371 near Slim River.
The bus passengers is said to have escaped unscathed.
“The four-wheel was travelling south when it hit the median guardrail and crossed to the opposing lane before it collided with the bus,” the spokesperson told The Rakyat Post when contacted.
The bus has since been moved and the road reopened, although traffic is reported to be slow.
