first up on the ‘old ideas that I still like but never finished’ bunch of posts: Rimmer’s no-smoking sign shirt. Lister got it for him back when he was alive. Lister didn’t want to admit that he’d spent actual money on Rimmer. Rimmer didn’t want to act pleased about it, not around anyone anyway.

How about a reworking of Out of Time where the crew meet their *actual* future selves? Lister still gets the "Oh my God, look at Rimmer!" line on seeing silver fox Rimmer, he just means it in a completely different way.

What if the only way the Boyz(tm) could possibly get together would be from Lister seeing their future selves together and suddenly accepting it as a possibility.
