Do the food based slimegirls have expiration dates?

when a slime climaxes, she “explodes”, sending slime everywhere; the idea being that her spores spread everywhere. There are two kinds of protection: one is basically a full-body condom, although this does make it hard to get “inside” her, which is why the second form of protection is just having sex in an area where her spores have nothing to grow in. The room should be well-lit, dry, and not contain any wood, carpet, cloth made of natural fibres, foodstuffs, or soil, as all of these provide enough nutrients for spores to grow. Preferably the room is a uniform colour, (to make it easier to spot any stray slime puddles), and the walls and floor should be covered in ceramic tiles. A prime example would be a bathroom. Although slimes don’t use bathrooms in the same way humans do, many slimes have a bathroom built in their house, both for human guests, and for having slime sex.

Eaurp and Slamtha do some amateur astronomy outside of Flugoz County during their first year of gooniversity (goo university). Eaurp is observing the Ulyp Nebula, known to humans as Messier 42.

Eaurp's telescope is a 140.8mm aperture f/8 Cassegrain-like design, with a sub-aperture correcting lens on the secondary mirror and before the eyepiece. It's resting on a home-made equatorial pipe mount.

The view on the upper right is roughly what Guz sees through the eyepiece. A human would see slightly differently.

Names (given by humans) of the bright stars visible in the image. The view is accurate to the Zwo-Nmu system, but I have only a vague idea of where the celestial north and south poles are on Gymnome. Zwo-Nmu is 64 lightyears away from the Sun, so the constellations are noticeably different and overlap in strange ways, but many of the same stars are visible.

The glowing of Eaurp and Slamtha's slime has been exaggerated because it looks cool. In reality their bioluminescence would only be visible under much darker skies, and it'd look like a colorless ghostly grey due to the human rod cell's insensitivity to dim light.

This glow is a limiting factor for Gymnomi visual astronomers when observing at the extreme limits of their visual sensitivity, even when consciously suppressed. Dark-slimed astronomers glow less and so have a slight advantage over bright-slimed astronomers. There are also drugs which suppress the bioluminescence, but they can have side effects, so they're only used by the most dedicated visual astronomers.

Someone in the discord asked about Gymnomi Slime prisons. Here is my reply:

It occurs to me that gymnomi prisons might just. not be a thing. I'm sure you could engineer a prison, like, something with multiple layers of watertight construction, but it would be prohibitively expensive and not available to the Gymnomi for most of their history. Now, maybe a prison could be an underground basement/dungeon with a single heavily armed choke point for entry/exit. But even getting prisoners there would be a challenge.

Killing a gymnomi is historically very difficult. Keeping one prisoner is also historically very difficult.

Punishment for crime could instead be banishment enforced by threat of death, which wasn't a death sentence when city governments were insular but might become just as well one when city governments join into networks with shared banlists. Or it could be a fine enforced by threat of death or banishment, or it could be community service enforced by threat of fine, banishment, or death. Certain extreme violent crimes like murder would receive the death penalty, and it'd be harder for progressives to abolish the death penalty.

But maybe the lack of a way to coerce a gymnomi slime into captivity without just killing them will require an altogether different outlook on crime. One that recognizes that by and large, crime (even violent crime) is caused by poverty and lack of access to needs like food and shelter. One that promises to reform its criminals.

Perhaps this is part of why economic standardisation happened--to prevent crime, many places had long since turned to abolitionist principles, which required the economic conditions to change.

But it's not exactly a utopia. Until very recently (2370s) in many polities, fusion was a crime punishable by a sort of "conversion therapy," for example. And in general the structure of these reform centers is very pathologizing. And there is still the looming threat of banishment, or death.
