Sounds like Pedro the Lion's David Bazan singing for a sludgey slowcore 90's pop band on tour with Everclear.

Time for some sludge-punk! Slippertails, a "heavy punk rock band from central NJ," and this is their debut LP/cassette "There's a Disturbing Trend." Over these nine tracks, Slippertails subjects your ears to fatigued vocals, crashing cymbals and wonderfully buzzy guitars, which sound like someone is dragging them through mud. The chord progression of "Garden State of Mind" and energy of "Altar Wine" stand out for me. It's a pretty good debut and is out now on Fleeting Youth Records in "manly salmon" color.

Weekend Review: 2 Down, 50 To Go
This was a rare week – I left the house eight days in a row. That’s unheard of as I head into my second year as a hermit. I only got three posts up, but that wasn’t because of my absence…there was little to review this week. I think I have a little more for you next week though. My calendar pages are filling up, so that’s always something to make me smirk.
So what kept me out and about this week? Cave dwelling in Malibu, cruisin’ with my BFF who was down from Portland, a panel to see Enlisted, stalking Kristen Wiig and the usual meeting with Satan aka the man I work for. Of all the days I wish it was Monday again because I really do miss my BFF. She’s the only one who doesn’t bitch about their life when we hang out. I don’t mind if you need to vent – but every time? We just can’t cruise and recreate scenes from A Cinderella Story?
In other news, TV is almost all back and I’m already behind thanks to leaving the confines of the apartment. I need more time in the day just to watch all my lovelies. Next week it’s the same ol’ same ol’ with reviews and maybe an interview if I get that one back from a Jewish folk singer who’s really into his culture. I’m excited to hear what he had to say. Until then…

Slippertails: There’s A Disturbing Trend
Who stayed up until 3am catching up on her TV shows and woke up at 7am? This gal! I’m starting to feel it as I sit annoyed by almost everyone I’ve ever crossed paths with. Then who reviewed an album that she’d already did – only to realize that after she was said and done…Oh the joys of four hours of sleep. Slippertails was on my list for tomorrow but with the 4th mistake of the day on the books, they slipped into my Thursday with their record There’s A Disturbing Trend.
