I'd like to request a breakdown on how you drew Sans's skeleton in "fkuckign i dk whAt", as well as it's respective rough. Thanks!
I’m sorry but I.. I don’t even know what you mean?? I drew it in like an hour real quick before having to take my car to the shop this morning!
I would consider it to already be a rough / doodle / whatever honestly
Might you be able to break down your Pinky and the Brain roughs, specifically the top one?
Sorry it took me so long to answer!
Honestly? I don’t particularly have a breakdown process. ;v; I use a lot of lines of action in my work and worry about proportions and placement later.
My main concern is trying to create a contiguous form without breaking flow, and to have shapes that work off of each other. ESPECIALLY because the show always did the same.
Brain’s always hunched over and Pinky’s always hella wiggly. There’s not a straight line in either of them. Well except Brain’s messed up tail.
Combine that with making sure the volume of the shapes work with each other’s movement AND that it reflects the character’s personalities.
As for my actual physical process of drawing them? Usually I have to envision how they’re gonna be interacting first.
Like I don’t normally draw this part, or if I do, it’s a really tiny thumbnail, not a big picture like this, I just sketched this for visualization’s sake.
THEN I do a really rough sketch and just try to find placement.
(This is actually the sketch before I finished, but Brain literally stayed the same while Pinky just got cleaned up because I was having the HARDEST time figuring out what I wanted to do with him!)
The clean up usually just has me erasing line to make sure the form is clear enough for the viewer to understand what’s going on. Cause, as a friend of mine told me, if you can read the situation, it’s clean enough. I try to keep that in mind with sketches now. uvu
UUURGH I’m sorry if none of this makes sense, my process usually just encompasses drawing curved lines and hoping for the best. qvq
Thanks! Also, would you be able to break down the finishing (inks and colors) process, namely how you got it to look close to the show (namely in line weights)?
sorry its nothing spectacular. I referenced screenshots from the show and picked out colors by eye (all the screenshots I found werent great quality). For the inks i was just trying to create a sense of fluid movement with my lines. I wasn't exactly thinking about recreating the aesthetic of the show at the time!
Might you post up the roughs for your Uranus Jasper and Neptune Lapis image?
ok sure. First sketch:

oh no.
