💣 for a stress headcanon

Ben’s calm and collected facade only begins to falter when he reaches a breaking point of keeping everything bottled up for too long, like it did in October. There are a few small tell-tale signs that can give away that he is stressing out before he reaches this point, however. First, he’ll be prone to rubbing the scar on his forehead or biting his lip. Second, he’ll pick up new or get back into old hobbies out of nowhere so he can keep his mind off of what he is doing. Third, he won’t stay still except when he stops to talk someone; he’ll have his hands clasped together then and actively making sure he’s not too fidgety since he knows it would be a give away. 

😡 for an anger headcanon

It takes a lot to make Ben angry, even more to make him show his anger. Whenever he feels himself becoming aggravated, he’ll simply remove himself from the situation before it can escalate. Ben can count on one hand how many times he’s gotten so furious that he could not contain it and started a fight, a few of which escalated to being physical.

💕 for a love headcanon

Ben has been in love three times in his life. The only thing they all seem to have in common with one another is that before he initially fell for them, Ben considered them really great friends. That’s it. They are completely different from one another, in every kind of way. Even the love he felt for them is different. The first one was this naive, impractical, movie-esque kind of love. The second one, while more sensible and grounded than the last, was still held to an idealistic view he had grown up with surronding love that made it hard to let go in the end. His third love bloomed out of nowhere, quiet and undeniable. He’s not sure if it’s because each person is unique that makes the love he felt or feels for them so different. Or if it’s because he has changed with each person. The person he is today he deems as his truest self, cause he was still finding his way to himself the last two times. Maybe that is why this love he holds now is so much more than the others.

( @sloanepearson​ ) finley takes their morning run alone this time-- if one can even call it a run. they go for more of a leisurely stroll from their house in pelican town, nearing the outskirts of cindersap forest, letting the scenery wash over them with a sense of calmness. they didn’t think nature could have this effect on them, but stardew is magical in that way, they’ve realized. and as they take notice of a familiar van, and a smirk curls along their lips. did they decide to trek alone in hopes of running into sloane? maybe, maybe not, but it was a welcome distraction nonetheless. they veer off slightly from their path, making their way up to the van and knocking lightly on its side. “you open for business?“

unsent 1:22am — Sometimes I think about leaving the Valley again. I love it here, and it’s my home, and I guess long term I can’t imagine myself anywhere else. But I still feel kind of like I’m disappointing my parents by being here. Like I’m back where I started? I don’t think I ever told you that I was gone for a while or anything, but. I guess I’m just asking what travelling is like. Not having one place everyone expects you to be, forever and ever and ever. Maybe I don’t want to leave, I just ... don’t want to feel like I’m waiting for something? sent 1:35am — Let me know the next time you’re travelling. Next time you’re in town, I’d like to have a reading. After our talk today, I feel a bit... To be honest Sloane, the thought of the cards bringing me face to face with something I didn’t want to confront just made me anxious. But you make it seem less overwhelming than I picture it in my head. That’s a bad place to be sometimes.

I’ve lived here for five years, but this is the first time I’m actually staying in town for my birthday. That’s weird isn’t it? It feels weird. It just became a sort of tradition for me to go to Zuzu city to celebrate it.

Went for a jog this morning through the woods to clear my head. Part of me was hoping that you’d be there by some miracle. But you’re still out east. Sometimes I wonder if I should move back to New York. Not because I miss the city. Just miss feeling like

( @sloanepearson​ ) Jemma is on a hunt. She’s been to enough festivals and fairs in her life to know-- she just knows-- that there has to be an oracle somewhere around here. Though she wasn’t a super spiritual person by any means, stuff of that nature had always passively caught her interest, and whenever she had the opportunity, you bet she wanted to get a glimpse of what the spirits had in store. And when she finally finds it, her eyes brighten as she spots a familiar face at the head of the booth. Of course. She steps up, waiting until it’s empty before flashing a smile at Sloane, “Sooo, what exactly can my palm tell you about me?”

( @sloanepearson ) Finley struggles to keep their hands from shaking as they tuck one more pair of clothes into the backpack before zipping it closed. They look around their room, trying to see if they’re missing anything. It’s hard not to notice the bright orange flowers on their nightstand, the stupid poem Jillian had written them lying beside it. They look away quickly.

I need to leave.

They pace back and forth in their bedroom, looking at the bus hours on their phone. Sure, they could take the bus to Zuzu City, but then they’d have to find out how to get from there to DC. How much money would that take? Maybe they could just find a place to stay in Zuzu for a little while. No, that’s still too close. I need to go home. They pace and pace, then sit on the edge of their bed and run their hands through their hair, then stare at the contacts in their phone, trying to guess who might not hate them yet. Eventually, they land on Sloane’s number.

finley: do u know if ur going on one of ur trips soon?

finley: i need a ride somewhere

😶 - Quietly lean against my muse

they’re at the saloon, it’s a slow night and malia has drank quite a bit and is a little sleepy. it’s not often that sloane and malia hang out but fae just happened to be here when malia came in. they had a couple of drinks together, malia not really talking but listening to sloane talk about what faer been up to lately. it was nice for malia just to listen. malia can’t remember the last time she just listened to someone talk without feeling the need to say something back. but she smiled, nodding her head along to the conversation which was easy and light. malia could use easy and light after the couple of months she had been having. 

it’s nearing last call and malia asks for a water and pays for both their tabs and she walks sloane out the door. it’s not like malia ask for sloane to stay for a bit, but malia wants to smoke and she needs to sit, be out in the cold air for a bit to sober up so she could walk home, and sloane being the nice person faer is does. stay with malia. 

“it’s been a long winter,” malia says, tapping the ash off of the cigarette. “i’m excited for warmer weather. i need spring.” 

malia rests her head against sloane’s shoulder. she doesn’t know why she does it. malia is not a physical person by nature, that was her mom’s thing. malia can’t remember the last time she really initiated any sort of intimacy. and she supposes this could be an intimate moment between friends but right now it just felt like a weird lifeline, if for a moment, of needing someone there. 

“sorry.” malia says, stabbing the butt of the cigarette onto the pavement. “and thank you.” malia reaches out to squeeze fae’s hand. 

✋️ - Hold my muse’s hand

gabe considered adria a friend, and friends always got invited to dinner at the flores house. tonight, gabe’s family was going all out for their guest like they always would whenever people would come over. it was probably one of gabe’s favourite things about his family. there was this sense of love and warmth that came from nights like this. thalia was having a blast having adria over since that first time they had met at her lemonade stand. 

gabe had watched them interact with each other all throughout the night while adria kept getting passed plate after plate of food. his lola was talking her ear off about what she did, often looking over at gabe and he knew that she was talking about him, and he shook his head. he loved his family but he knew how overwhelming this could all be, but it was all out of love. everyone talking over each other, laughter filling the air of the tiny house, and warm food in their bellies. 

it was late by the time they had finished their food, gabe had told adria that she had to stay for dessert and tea, but first he needed to tuck thalia into bed. he had squeezed her shoulders as he left, wishing her good luck because now that gabe was out of the room his family would pounce on her about stories about her life and how she came to the valley. by the time thalia had gotten to sleep he had come downstairs and he could overhear his lola talking about the flower shop, saying how proud of it she was and how it was all thanks to gabe. 

he had shook his head again as he had come back down. he had filled a couple containers full of food and grabbed adria’s jacket to try and get her out of here before his family talked her ear off again for another hour. after a line of goodbye’s and hugs they were finally out the door and gabe had to laugh. 

“i know, they’re a lot.” he says with a happy sigh. “thank you for coming over though.” he reaches out to grab her hand and give it a gentle squeeze, holding on to it for a little longer before letting it fall. “this is for you. don’t worry about bringing the containers back, we have a bunch.” he laughs. 

“oh, thalia drew this for you.” he grabs the drawing out of his back pocket and handing it to her. “if you ever want another night like this feel free to come by anytime. you will never go hungry, i promise.”
