Ingredients: 1 cup dried lentils. 2 cups vegetable broth. 1 onion, diced. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 bell pepper, diced. 1 cup tomato sauce. 2 tablespoons tomato paste. 1 tablespoon soy sauce. 1 tablespoon maple syrup. 1 teaspoon smoked paprika. 1 teaspoon cumin. 1/2 teaspoon chili powder. Salt and pepper to taste. 4 whole wheat burger buns.
Instructions: Lentils and vegetable broth should be mixed together in a pot. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and let it cook for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the lentils are soft and most of the liquid is gone. Put the onion, garlic, and bell pepper in a different pan and cook them until they get soft. Put tomato sauce, tomato paste, soy sauce, maple syrup, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper in the pan with the cooked lentils. Mix things together well. Add more 5 to 10 minutes of cooking time to let the flavors blend and the sauce get thicker. If you want, you can toast the whole wheat burger buns. Spread the lentil mixture out evenly on the toasted buns. Enjoy while hot!
