Slowboat über den Mekong

16/10/2019 Als wir über die Grenze nach Laos kommen, hole ich mir die erste Million (100€) von der Bank und buche unser Slowboat, das uns von Huay Xai nach Luang prabang bringen soll. Da diese Route zwei Tage dauert übernachten wir in Pak Beng. Die Landschaft ist gleichbleibend traumhaft und wir fahren ganze zwei Tage an keiner Stadt vorbei. Meilenweit sieht man bewachsene Hügel und Berge. Lediglich kleine Ortschaften aus Holzhütten. Kühe und Wasserbüffel komplementieren das idyllische Bild. Auf dem Schiff herrscht eine gemütliche Atmosphäre und alle teilen die Vorfreude auf die nächste Stadt. Es ist das erste Mal, dass wir etwas ähnliches wie eine Reisegruppe haben und wir nutzen die zwei Tage, um uns über unsere vergangenen und geplanten Routen auszutauschen. Diese Erfahrung zwei Tage über den Mekong zu schippern ist absolut empfehlenswert und sicherlich eine der schönste Dinge, die Laos zu bieten hat.

Switching from weird local transports to one of the most touristic transports possible for the last stage to Luang Prabang - the last station of traveling in company for a while. The leg-space is probably comparable with some smaller airplanes, same as the noise-level. But therefor you get the most decreased traveling speed besides walking - when the mountains and tiny villages are passing by to the sound of “Luciferian Towers”, theres nothing else to do but dream ...
