There's a version of freedom that nobody's selling because it doesn't photograph well. It's quieter than the highlight reel, more uncertain in the early days, and completely yours in a way that borrowed blueprints never are. This is the one worth building from scratch, even when scratch feels like not much to work with.

@seducedbypottery . . . . . This is the first time in my life where I feel that intimate connection with a piece of art that has slowly evolved. I have been crafting this sculpture for a few days and although it's uncommon for me to hand build this type of shape I admit I have enjoyed greatly the process. I am preparing work for an upcoming sawdust firing and I am trying new ways to achieve organic shapes and hopefully create a lovely piece.So far, this piece has been built, burnished and is still slowly drying. Next I will apply terra sigillata and burnish again. I know that a few pieces won't survive the firing but I hope this one makes it in one piece!
