That's amazing that you completed a half marathon! One day soon I hope to be able to do that. What is your diet like, if you don't mind me asking? And your running background?
Hey there! Thank you so much! You should definitely do it; it was an incredible experience. I’ve been a vegetarian for about 2 and a half years now, so I get all my protein from nuts, legumes, and grains! I generally always start my day off with oatmeal and pb and fruit. Generally, I include a salad in my day and/or steamed vegetables. Other meals may involve Mediterranean-like food (I LOVE hummus, tabbouleh, couscous, etc), soups (for summer think gazpacho), and healthy starchy carbs (I.e. a plain baked potato w/nuts and vegetable stuffing and quinoa). I try to drink about 2 liters of water a day! I have a massive sweet tooth so most days I have a little something something- maybe dark chocolate (I’m attempting to cut out dairy). As for running.. I ran distance track in high school and was baaad. I didn’t like running long distances and I wasn’t good at it. Aside from running small distances last summer, my first real running experience was this thanksgiving when I ran an 8k (5mi) with little training and had a blast! After that I decided to run a half and looked up customized starting plans- there are tons on the Internet that can be personalized! I followed the plan and incorporated some cross training (30ds, yoga) and voila! Thanks so much for your question and good luck! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Obviously, the food I chose to eat reflects my personal nutritional beliefs, but please realize that there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating meat or foods I may not have mentioned- just wanted to throw that out there! :)
