[ There are many of Elvenqueen roleplayers inthe Tolkien fandom, and each of them has their own take on this barely fleshedout character. Calaerdis – and her fantastic writer – is no exception. I remembermeeting them a couple of months ago but daaaamn our muses hit it off. It waslike one of those instant connection things where your characters just click and you wonder where they’ve been,and it was just simply glorious. She’s coy and takes charge, and she isn’t just Thranduil’s wife. She’s a mother,a fighter, and basically what you would expect of a queen from a realm as toughas Mirkwood. And these are different aspects of her muse that I like and love.
Her backstory is also awesome; it explains herabsence in the book and the films well, which makes it easy for any transitionin terms of roleplaying. It’s also unique, which is a huge boost. And her faceclaim is A+; I didn’t think Jaime Murray ever played someone who could pass offas an Elven queen, but that character’s facial expressions and appearance justmatch Cala so well that I find it difficult to separate the two sometimes.
But it’s the way the two interact thatdefinitely gets me. They can go from being teasing bathmates to concernedparents in a flash, and it shows how Thranduil can be both a husband and a father if his wife had lived. It’s sad and touching at the same time, plus there are moments when I can’t help but laugh because oh lordy, he’s sometimes shocked by the things she says and does.
They aren’t around that much now, but they(along with their genderbend Tauriel) are very much missed. <3 I hope to seethem online soon! :D ]
