It has been months since the last visit. Not even a call of a single text message rang in the skeleton’s phone since then, and any attempt to call the brunett, would just receive a reply about a non-existed number. These months went on as if only a howl of silence was replaced between that never-made promise of return. It wasn’t as if the work at the laboratory was as busy as if they could never leave for a second, but mostly the massive amount of experiments - that slowly drained their life energy out of them. Every day was another day of deep exhaustion, that disabled the brunett from moving much out of their cell - and just rest as best they could.
And there came that specific night they couldn’t fight against their rumbling hunger no longer. Tired eyes dropped down at their own stomach, not realizing the horrible changes it went through only several months. Ribs and bones bulged to the thin skin, making it seem as if they were a skeleton themselves, with only a simple layer of skin covering their form. Heavy bags under their closed eyes were always there, as symbol that nightmares were chasing them now and then. Balls of messy hair clung to their head, for not being able to brush it for so long, and it hurt due their pulls. What’s more, previous marks and injures from experiments were yet stayed remain at their pale skin, body finding it too difficult to cure them all - the biggest reason for such thing, was thanks to their lack of magic that got sucked up by everything they went through.
It didn’t matter, however. If a crumb of food wouldn’t lay down on that dry tongue, they wouldn’t probably make it to another day.
It was finally midnight, laboratory just went as silent. The human stood on shaky two legs, and began making their way to the exit.

The grassy fields danced with the calming chilling wind, tickling their bare feet. The fresh air filled that dying body with life, stars brightening their cold eyes then - with their large decoration of light over the sky. They just wanted to lay down there and sleep on the soft ground, let themselves rott in such peaceful place. Eyes closed themselves at the thought, and they continued. Home was waiting.
The door creaked open, the brunett flinching at the thought that it could has made someone to wake up. Many wonders questioned their mind at the close of the door - wondering if anyone besides Xelus noticed their disappearance.. Wondering if Xelus and the others may have forgotten them completely.. Wondering with Xelus moved on, perhaps even have a partner that he’d finally want to spend the rest of his life only with them.
Eyes glanced around through the darkness. The place looked the same, perhaps a little messier than usual. They entered the kitchen, finding at first sight a lot of empty honey jars over the table. That was their Xelus, though, it might even seem that he ate too much of honey lately. That amount of jars was just impossible, and it brought a possibility that the jars could’ve been laying here for a good amount of time. Within a minute of checking, found out the brunett that the jars had the same expiration date, and... A burnt cigarette? Good amount of them. Perhaps there were any guests in the house earlier? But knowing their mother, she’d never allow the smoke of it into the house.
They gave up on investigating. Head perked up at the sight of a single torn piece of bread, and dirty hands immediately snatched it, and all they did next was gorging over that piece, drooling in shame as they even coughed from the rush of their eating. Humiliated by their own behavior, but killing the hunger was worth any attitude of disgust. That real taste of food just made them hiccup and round tears to sob.
