Ah, so it really was impossible to reach out in these final moments.

Maybe it was for the best though, to avoid getting another scolding from the azure head. The thought made him chuckle. The limits of his forbearance were particularly short with this one, for reasons Clear had never been able to decipher. While constructed with the ability to interpret over dozens of foreign languages, the semantics of his friend were alien, untranslatable. ‘Friend’, is at least what the albino would have liked to categorize him as… or, honestly, even more. He always sought an alliance; a bond between them, but whether or not he’d ever achieved that was a mystery he’d never find out.

It would have been nice though… warming to Clear’s non-existing heart even, to consider they might have been friends. A time that would not come in reality, but in his dreams, he thought. After what seemed forever, Clear decided to speak up in hopes the message would find Sly some time. From the start of the memo, he noticed the signal was particularly static filled, hysterically fizzing in and out from his end of the line. He’d have to make it quick, lest his last message to Sly would be for naught.

Maybe he wouldn’t even care for his departure but… Clear did. Out of all the persons he could have said his farewell to; he chose Sly.

"…Sly-san. Please- be…fore you stop this message… please listen to what I have to say. Ah, though in case you didn’t know who this was, it’s Clear. You’re probably w…wandering why I called you in the first place. Is that right?"

His voice first came out fairly average despite the intense feeling of corrosion in his form. Auto repair malfunctioning and the conclusion of an ambush with unsatisfied folk from the underworld arena had him wavering. Legs miserably shook, barely holding his form above the ground as his back roughly met against the bricked wall of an alleyway. Oil dripped from the tears in his synthetic skin, down his already lifeless arm and to the ground. Over half his body had seized operating. Part of his face was locking up, sight already blurring and intake of oxygen becoming significantly difficult as time passed. But none of it compared to the inner feeling of guilt he was experiencing.

Clear grit his teeth, hissing at a spark that flew from his remaining joints, before his legs gave out and had him slide down the wall. It had progressed faster than he expected… he couldn’t waste this message, his last communication with Sly.

“I was not careful… I’ve been told by others I’m…f-far too trusting. And this finally woke me up to that fact. H-Haha… Do you remember when I told you I wasn’t fond of those men who paid to watch our fights? I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt b-but… well…” A saddened smile brought his lips further up, tilting his head with decreasing energy, “Sly-san… I w…want to tell you something. This will be the final time we speak. Maybe you’re glad!- b…but… I sincerely… wish it wasn’t. I really wanted to see Sly-san again… even though you get frustrated at me, and likely still hold a grudge.

There’s s-so much I want to confess to you, but I cannot find the right words. So… I’ll confess as best I can and h-hope you’re still listening by the end.”

“Sly-san I-“Words cut short when an especially loud creak resounded from his failing structure, earning a hitch in breath and pitiful whine. Biting back the pain, he found his thoughts focused on nothing but the receiver of his call. So Clear pushed on with what breath he had to spare, what words and feelings he could convey till his last moment.

"I-I’m sorry. Sly-san, I s…sincerely enjoyed our time together. Knowing you b-brought so much happiness, so many variety of f-..f-feelings I never experienced before. Although many of them res…sulted in me crying… being with you was the hi-highlight - the most enjoyable part of living, in my opinion. Even when we fought against one another I cherished the moment. Is it silly to hear that?"

His voice caught in his throat, and Clear wheezed, his still functioning hand grasping his exposed chest where skin was slowly peeling off, "I-It might b-be s…sel-…fish of me to ask of this, c-considering how you might feel… however I’d like nothing more than for you to listen. W…When you receive this message… p-please smile. I never got to see it but I imagine it’s …. b… beautiful."

Another spark flew, and the arm raised to his chest fell.

"Sl-…s.-s…an…. p…le…ease t-t..ak..e… c-car..e…"

"Fuck, Sly!" Aoba shouted after having run up the stairs and into his room. The demon had been unbearable today, making him say dirty things to customers at work and trying to get him to pick up dudes and chicks on the way home.

"Can't you freaking leave me alone for one day?" He asked, knowing full well the other could hear him.

Clean Reminder // Arena AU

Victory for normal humans would have usually consisted of celebrating with friends, drinking excessively at a party or having a quiet outing with a loved one. Clear had no such thoughts while brushing himself down in the locker room, removing his bloodied gloves used in combat and eyeing the jacket and scarf cleanly hanging in front of him. The fights had ceased for the android, and Clear was highly satisfied with the outcome on his part. But for others they were either headed for the hospital or left with crushed confidence of ever going back into the arena. Maybe it was for the better anyway.

The fight against Sly had left him somewhat... thoughtful ever since the blunet's defeat. Having used dye music to his advantage wasn't really his method of winning. But what left him in his thoughts was the other's abilities. Scrap must have been his sure win in the past, shortly after finding out he'd been there before prior to their match. But out there he was so sure of the android loss. He let down his guard and acted almost foolishly as some described. He was undefeated... but now Sly was just another previous champion.

Grimacing lightly, he turned away from his hanging clothes and noticed the one in his mind had just returned from being looked at by the first aid team. He didn't appear to be too badly injured, which was relieving. Although Clear couldn't think up any words of welcome, nothing but a polite bow of his head to acknowledge his presence.

He was still bothered though...
