Interviews were where Addy thrived. She has done interviews for pageants and learned the right techniques. Not to mention, she loved talking about herself. It was something she was good at and she couldn’t deny she liked the attention. As heels clicked walking into the city hall, the woman ran a hand through the dark hair as she looked around. There really wasn’t anyone here, which was a good thing. She didn’t feel like waiting for a long period of time when she had to work tonight. And she definitely needed to rest. The ER was horrible at nights and she never knew what to expect.
With a call of her name, she smiled as she walked up to them, shaking their hand. “It’s Tor-res, by the way. Easy mistake. I got it all my life. Where do I sit?” Addy adjusted the dress as she was pointed to the seat, setting the designer bag on the ground by her feet. “Okay, what do you need me to answer?”
“What was your first reaction upon arriving to the city? What stood out to you the most?” A simple question. She was slightly disappointed, she couldn’t lie. She was hoping for something more personal. “Depends on what you mean by first reaction. Do you mean my first time ever or when I moved here? I mean, I’m from San Diego, so I’ve always known about here and have been here when I was a child for a pageant or two. I just liked the vibes here. It’s chill and smaller than LA. Not to mention that it’s a little closer to home compared to LA as well,” she shrugged as she took a drink of coffee.
“Which neighborhood did you settle in? Do you like your neighborhood? What improvements would you suggest?” Ugh, another simple question. She thought this was supposed to be more about her. Not about the city. “I settled in Mid City. Which wasn’t really my first choice, but it’s the closet to the hospital I work at and the home I found was really nice. So, I learned to adjust. There’s some people who act like they are better than everyone else, but I guess I could be considered one of them in a way. I was pretty known when I was younger.” Was Miss California a thing people knew about? She didn’t really care. “Can’t really think of any changes that need to be made. But I don’t have much time to worry about it.” She didn’t really care, to be honest. It wasn’t her thing to worry about.
“What has kept you in Santa Monica? What are you looking to get out of this city?” What’s with these questions? She gave a small sigh as she ran a hand through her hair. “My job. I work at UCLA Medical Center here in Santa Monica in the ER. So, that’s why I’m still here. There’s really no other reason. Santa Monica is just another California city. They slowly become all the same. I just like the hospital I work at and that’s really it.”
“What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone who is new to this city?” Okay, now she was slightly annoyed. “I guess just enjoy yourself? I don’t really know. I’m not a tour guide. I guess have fun because there’s so much to do in this city, so there’s a lot to experience. Is this it?” She raised a brow. “No offense, but I have work later and if these questions are a little too boring for me.” At the notice of them saying she could go, she picked up her bag, forcing a smile as she gave a wave.
Now she sleeps until work. She was glad this was a waste of her time.
