Danny paying attention to all of the small/animal ghost that are seen as insignificant by other ghosts.

Because Danny *understands* what it's like to be the odd one. To be looked over. To be walked on like a rug but not being able to do anything about it. He sees himself in every small creature that is ignored or picked on because that was, and sometimes still is, *him*

No one, ghost or human, can ever really understand Danny. Ghosts don't like him because he protects humans/is still alive. Humans don't like him because he is a ghost/A freak. Not to mention those closest to him always end up finding a way to try and kill him as well

So when he noticed the oddity of the Little Ones, he began to spend more time with them and even care for them. Because in the end that was all he really wanted. So even if he couldn't have it, he could give it to others, right?

So he spends hours with these beings and does the one thing no one could ever *truley* do for him.

He sits there, and he listens

Just handkerchief small ghosts:

think about this, a person enters a haunted house with friends to see just what's so "spooky" about it, we have this, doors close, stairs creek typical haunted house scenery, blood on the walls and such, but then they get stuck in a completely empty room, that is just empty, and only a small voice is talking to them, telling them to leave! and please take it with them. one of the people take out a handkerchief drops it on the floor 'cus they have nothing else. It lands on the floor, and then zips into the middle of the room, and take the shape of a small ghost, who helps them out from the house, and then stays with them, changing between big blankets, or curtains when bored or has to scare someone but mostly just the handkerchief ‘cus it loves it...
