Lowkey big post under the cut! It's kinda just a bunch of my nonsense that doesn't make any senseeeeeee
Uhhh so! For my partypoopers, masks are a very important n fundamental thing! In my partypoopers society their masks symbolize protection, trust and peace not to mention their masks protect them from different unnecessary hurtful incidents. My partypoopers have delegate/sensitive skin and they're mostly nocturnal based entities, their eyes and skin are much more sensitive towards direct sunlight or very bright lights, so the mask helps them getting blinded and get minor sunburns on their faces! Also the owner of the mask n the mask are quite literally bonded
Demasking is a serious crime for my partypoopers too, similar to @5m173y canon, yet my partypoopers would be kiiindaaaaaa chill if there will be a situation where u'll see like an eye or a part of their mouth, as long as u haven't seen their full face and as long as u didn't forcefully took off their mask, it would be fine, hella awkward n embarrassing, but fine! Some partypoopers of mine don't really care much if you take off their mask for one reason or another, and some partypoopers of mine won't even let u touch their masks no matter how much u washed ur hands/silly
Partypooper took off their mask in front of you = they trust you
Partypooper let you hold/gifted/gave you the mask = HUGE trust, like HUGE HUGE trust
Ahem, remember how I mentioned in Mask's, Chef's n Jeffery's ref sheet that Jeffery never got a chance to color his mask?
So!
My partypoopers have a tradition of coloring/decorating their masks! A lil bonding time to strengthen the connection between the mask n the owner + to basically "sign" your own mask in case it will get lost smh!
Usually partypoopers start coloring their masks when they hit 13-15 years old, basically a puberty period as mentioned in the doodle! Even if puberty hit earlier, it's recommended for the kiddos to color their mask when they're 13-15 since their personality is mostly already formed properly in that age! The mask decorations/coloring always reflects personality of the partypooper! Yes, partypoopers can recolor their masks when hitting adulthood to match their current passions n new personality traits that they got throughout the years!
But ye, again as mentioned in the doodle above, if partypooper color their mask too early, the connection between the mask n the owner getting vague, foggy or lacks at all! It's caused by not yet fully developed personality of the partypooper or if the partypooper was forced to color their mask for some reasons
Uhhh idk what else to add here so ig that's all for now, might add more stuff if I remember or came up with more :P
