We're the Only Ones who Matter
Growing up every girl dreams of the wedding she wants to have when she grows up. I was no different even if I was a noble lady of France. The only thing that could change what I wish is the fact that I am marrying the King of England meaning there was so much pressure and I would end up wearing an even bigger crown on top of my head.
Standing in front of the glass case a golden crown was staring back at me. The weight of the crown making me more nervous than the fact that I was about to be married in a few hours…in front of the entire kingdom. “There you are, Y/n. I was looking for you in your chambers but you weren’t there.” Henry’s voice came through the room causing me to slowly spin around on my feet.
He finally paused his stride when he reached me, with his arms behind his back. “Sorry, my king. I just needed some time to clear my head before all of the madness later this evening.”
"That is understandable." He takes my hands in his, squeezing it gently and staring down at me. "Is something else wrong?"
He could see that my shoulders had stiffened up and I wasn't really giving him much detail. Those were always my telling signs that something wasn't right. "I'm not sure I want a big wedding."
"I see. Well, why didn't you say this sooner?" He asked me.
I sniffed through some tears, feeling nervous. "Because it took us this long to get the arrangement all set up. My family may not be here but you can't secure your position without me providing you an heir."
"Yes, I'm aware. But what is really bothering you?" The soon to be king asked me gently, rubbing his hands up and down my arms.
Spinning myself out of his arms I put my back towards him not having the heart to look him in the eye when I spoke my true feelings to him. "I feel alone here, Henry. I love you don’t get me wrong. My parents aren’t here, nor my friends. I'll have a wedding with a room full of strangers and...it sickenes me."
"Then we won't have a huge wedding."
Twirling around in my dress throwing my hair around surprised at his words. "But you’ve mother has said-"
"What my mother said doesn't matter." Henry came over to me, cupping my face in his hands. "Your option is the only one that matters to me."
I croaked still in disbelief. "The people in high power won't accept this. Small weddings don't happen when it comes to royalty."
Henry leans forward kissing me slowly and I kissed him back. "I don't care."
"You're mother does-"
He kissed me once more cutting me off where I pushed my hands against his chest.
"It's not what is expected of us-"
Henry deepened the kiss wrapping his arms around my waist tugging me closer. I wrapped my arms around his neck kissing him back until we needed air to breathe. "Fuck everyone's thoughts. I love you. I love you so much that I will marry you regardless of the size of the wedding."
"And if you're mother disapproves?"
He tucks hair behind my ear. "Regardless as long as we give me a male heir she'll be happy." I buried my face against his chest smiling and he rested his chin on top of my head smiling too.
Rosemary is taking the throne as Sage of Mischief Magic soon and she already isn’t excited to have to throw a huge party, so she just wanted a small private wedding with just L. and her parents there.
