1961 #Fender #Musicmaster. Well, some would say that after playing and photographing a 1959 #LesPaul Standard yesterday, #MusicmasterMonday just *might* be a bit of a letdown! 🤣 Not me though...I love this little #guitar, the way it fits in my hands, and the way it sounds through a cranked tuxedo #FenderPrinceton! I don't have a #Musicmaster for #MusicmasterMonday...but how about a #Gibson student model instead? . This is my 1959 Gibson #ES140 3/4T. It's called a "T" because it's "Tiny". Just kidding. T is for "Thin" body. Prior to 1958 these were full depth Making them a lot like a miniature version of an #ES175 minus the fanciness. Hmm I guess a full depth #ES125 is a more appropriate comparison, but did they even make a 125 with a cutaway and just a neck pickup? I.e. an ES125 C? I know the non cutaway version of the guitar is called the 125 3/4T... . More fun things found in the basement that haven't seen the light of day in many years: a pair of mini Strats I bought back in my early collecting days. I love #smallguitars so much! . The one on the right is a bit of a mongrel someone put together from a #Squier mini body, a neck from a 1994 Mexican #Duosonic, and a top-loading, hard tail bridge (which I upgraded because the orginal was terrible). . But the the one on the left is like a real #Fender MIM #Stratocaster only smaller. It has a string-through body (rather than top-loading) hardtail bridge, rosewood Fender-branded neck, 3 ply pickguard, and three control knobs just like the real thing! The MZ3 serial number dates it to around 2003 but I havent been able to find much more info on Fender ever making a Fender-branded 3/4 size #Strat with all the features of a full sized version (except the vibrato of course). Instead of going "macro" this Monday, I want to go "micro" instead. As you may know, I LOVE small #guitars...they are so cool. And it doesnt get much smaller or cooler than this 1960 #Gibson #LesPaulJunior 3/4 spotted at Guitar Center in #NewYorkCity several years ago. It looks like they took a full sized #LesPaul Junior and smushed the neck into the body to make it smaller for kids! Then they had to push the bridge and pickup back almost to the end of the body to maintain some kind of reasonable scale length. It's a hideously beautiful Frankenstein's monster of a tiny #guitar and I want one very badly! The only reason I didn't buy this one (despite the attractive price tag) was that it had had a headstock break. I haven't seen one since...🙁 .
