Smalls was packed, and Matthew had just finished his set of the night. Most of the people hadn’t been there to see his combo, much a less him, albeit he didn’t really mind that. It just meant he had more privacy once the set ended, and he was all packed up. His friends and band mates were maneuvering through the crowed with him, the small space feeling smaller than usual with the amount of people. Matthew was admittedly pretty high already, and his friends were motioning to go out and smoke more. But the only thing Matthew really wanted to do was find the bar’s cats. He knew they were probably hiding somewhere, and he held his beer hazardously in his hand while ducking behind and under people, peering at the dark floor. “Oh- shit, sorry.” He said suddenly as he spilled his drink all over a person he had been trying to climb behind, still standing awkwardly on one of the chairs, unsure how to proceed as he had already made so much progress in getting over on this side of the bar, and didn’t want to have to climb back to get napkins.
