Foodienotes: Small Talk Cafe, Finally!
"Must try and definitely worth it!"
Last Saturday, we ended two days of scholarly presentations with good food from Small Talk Cafe. Finally, after my n-th visit to Legaspi, I was able to try one of the "talked about" restaurants, which was also listed as "top 1" in this promotional magazine article---
(photo above was taken from the Facebook account of Small Talk Cafe)
Greetings in the form of a vibrant signage welcomed its visitors. Although not evident in this photo, softscape enveloped the entry gateway. It felt like home.
We weren't able to dine inside the restaurant (there was an ongoing "birthday celebration"), so we had our meal outside instead, al fresco. It was ok, minus that guy who continued smoking regardless of the big "no smoking" sign.
The entry hall was furnished with art and wooden furniture.
We were invited by one of our generous host to try several Bicolano dishes. Above are the first few "foodie" plates that we tried.
The "Seafood Fiesta" was one of my favorite.
Tinulmok and Pinangat/Laing looked exactly the same. One of them had fish and crab inside it. The other one was pure gabi leaves tied together. Both dishes I love.
Both reminded me of our Naga Market find circa 2010, pinangat sold by a child for 10php only. It made me think how little the child might have raised upon selling all the pinangat in his basket.
Ginataang Manok was a hit.
And ofcourse, wouldn't end the meal without a taste of their version of Bicol Express.
Our meal ended with Bicolana pizza aka the Laing pizza. Definitely worth trying. After having my 1st slice, I was full and there was no more space for a sili ice cream! Next time it is!:)
