my nose is literally dripping right now...
I don't know whether it's allergies or a cold, but it feels like a cold. I probably got it from someone in the office... Everyone's been sniffling since I started working there.
I've had quite the good weekend! I'm really sad I had to take the bike back, after tasting what it feels like to have a bike at your disposal, it's kind of depressing having to walk, and wait for the bus.
Yesterday, as part of Smart Commute week at the City, I went out to some farms for the 'Rural Routes' program. Got to check out some animals (pigs are ADORABLE!) and I ended up bringing home some extra lean meat, which I made into my very own stuffed burgers! (WHOO FOR MOI.) I had a lot of fun, and met some more people who work at the City, in one of the other buildings. Also got to see other parts of the City that I had previously not visited.
After some shawarma, I went back to my place, but since I wanted to make hamburgers immediately, I went to the grocery store down the street -- TWICE, and it took me less than half an hour! Oh, the advantages of cycle travel. I'm starting to truly understand why biking is so attractive to people. It's just unfortunate that road configuration and inconsiderate drivers make cycling unappealing. This seriously needs to change in North America. There needs to be a complete overhaul of the ways and views of transportation in North America, seriously. It's kind of outrageous that we're constantly shouting about how advanced we are, but really, there are so many areas in which we are lacking.
Eventually, I made my mushroom and swiss stuffed hamburgers, and ate their deliciousness. It was great, and it was really satisfying to eat something that I spent time making myself. Let me just put it out there: the first few bits were really difficult, after seeing the Texas Longhorn cows that the meat came from, I almost wanted to barf. Thank God I wasn't there when they were butchered. That would be more than enough to turn me into a vegetarian. Ugh.
Ended my night be (finally) finishing Jon Richardson's book. I'M SO ANGRY AT THE ENDING. I MEAN, REALLY JON? REALLY?! I won't spoil it for those who might read the book.
Today, I woke up relatively early (earlier than I would have liked), cleaned up, and made a delicious pancake breakfast. Then I fell asleep -- I don't even know why. After waking up, I biked down the Waterfront Trail to Open Streets, that was happening downtown. Honestly, the main reason I went out was to get a grilled cheese from Gorilla Cheese, but it turns out I came too late, and everything was sold out. TEARS.
For the rest of my time there I stayed with a friend and met someone else who was also working for the City, then I helped clean up, and made my way home.
What really bothers me about living in this city is that I can't just stand at the bus stop without being bothered. NO, I'm not going to give you money, then let you use my ID to buy alcohol, STOP staring at me from your car, DO NOT honk your horn at me just because I'm sitting on a bench, and NO I don't have any money for you.
I mean, just cause I'm a girl walking down the street does not give you the right to stare at me and catcall. So do us all a favour, and shut up, and turn away.
In other news: the cat is back, as I was walking home, it was chillen beside my driveway and just staring at me. Very well, cat, bring it on.
ON A SIDE NOTE: Revenge is pretty much the world's best show, just sayin'. And I can't stop listening to stuff from Adele's '19' album.
