Rabbit hole of fitness machines
A few posts ago I was defending Peleton for the "wife" ad. In that I said it would be easy to rig their trainers to any smart bike thing, and they have. I should get a royalty.
There was one of those Bowflex ads on TV. They now have a bike. It is better than a Peleton bike from what I glean from the pictures. It uses a hall effect brake to Generate resistance. The big thing was it links to Strava and to "the Peleton app". Hmmm.
So going down the hole there is a Peleton app that can talk to smart bike trainers. That means you can get a real bike, mount it on a smart trainer and have a person in New York shout at you. As I said before everyone is different and if that helps givur!
So for less money than the Peleton bike you can get a real roadworthy bike and a smartish trainer like a Kinetics. That is not a bad arrangement. The subscription costs the same.
Oh and I was riding January 1. 50.3 km in a bit of wind and actual sunshine before the next storm hit.
