I think I may have worked pretty hard for this ride on zwift. I was drenched in sweat.
I’ve been using the workouts recently and feel like it really makes the difference. Before I would just pedal. Not real life. So here’s to more sweaty sessions.
Also got a 2,500 y swim in the morning. It was 55 outside and luckily the outdoor pool was warmer than the ambient temperature. It took a lot of coaxing to get myself to go early in the morning because of the temperature.
Overall a good day! This cooler weather makes me excited about fall though.
The weather is not inviting for riding outside yet... Cold and wet, with ice on the road here and there. I am training on Zwift lately, I am halfway through the "road to the sky" challenge for February.
Getting slowly better at pacing myself on the climbs and managing my gear shifts. Unfortunately I still need to get my nutrition strategy right... I didn't have any carb-intensive snacks today so I almost bonked and the last 15 KMS were quite the challenge. I need to have some emergency candy or some gels at hand to get out of the carb slump. Hydration worked well however, i had at least one liter of water (sweating a lot because indoors there's no air to cool me down) with some magnesium and salts tablets. Feeling sore but not cramped.
If you'd like to, pm for adding me on Zwift!
Now that the cold weather is here, I've turned to indoor cycling. Zwift is a fun and effin' challenging way to workout on the indoor bike.
New to me bike day!!!
Finally found a bike that’s my right size, in my budget, and a good racing bike!! Hooray!!!
Specialized Allez 🚴🏻♀️
At last!
I finally got a new bike today. It’s called the Zwift Concept bike, colloquially, it’s the Tron bike! You can not buy it with in game currency, you have to have climbed. A lot! 50,000 meters or 164,000 ft!
I have been getting closer to it, annoyingly close. I have been averaging ~1200m a week recently. This past week? Screw it, just get it done! Almost 5,000m of climbing and I got it this morning!
Climbing? Indoors? On a trainer? Really? I don’t have the fancy equipment to raise the front of the bike to simulate climbing. However, I do have some mean ass electromagnets in my trainer for the game to make pedaling tougher, as if I were climbing. Does it feel like outside hills? Not quite but my legs will tell you different. Shut up legs!
The group/team, I ride with uses Failbook for comms. I shared that I had earned my Tron today! 172 likes and 60 comments from well wishers! That’s pretty touching. A weird rite of passage but one that those who Zwift understand how much effort goes in to getting a bike with light up wheels 😁
Will I start winning races now I have a fancy, fairy light lit, virtual bicycle? Nope, not powerful enough and too heavy but I will look marginally cooler … in my head 😎
If you can, please get a bike and ride the hell out of it.
It will do wonderful things for you.
