Bring on the vices! Don't care what the price is!
Megan Hilty as Ivy Lynn, Smash S1
NBC's Smash was an amazing show, exclusively because it gave us Christian Borle and Leslie Odom Jr making out
My fav lesbian Karen Cartwright moments in chronological order:
When she used movie roleplay to get herself excited for sex with her boyfriend while modeling herself after the female leads and admiring them onscreen.
When she made out with him while wearing a low-cut, slinky dress to “prove there’s nothing wrong [with her] below the neck” after complaining about having to look hot for men and the distracting sexiness of her female costar.
When she fainted during the workshop because she “got overwhelmed” by how “fantastic” Ivy was at performing, all the while reciting this with a goofy-ass grin on her face.
When her parents believed the tabloids saying she was a lesbian and called her over and over to ask her about it.
When she said, “It’s tech week!” to avoid giving an answer to her boyfriend’s proposal.
When she immediately knew Ivy was upset + lying about it while being socially unaware in every other situation (couldn’t tell that Ivy was trying to make fun of her when they met; didn’t understand why Tom and Julia were hurt by the pop-Marilyn disaster; was suprised that her director wanted to sleep with her after being invited to his flat alone at 10pm; thought that the company genuinely wanted to befriend her; etc, she’s just autistic, what can I say).
When she changed her mind to accept the proposal out of nowhere after Rebecca told her that being in show business means she’ll hurt people (aka Ivy), knowing that he might asking her to move away or stop working again.
When him cheating with Ivy was so much more hurtful that it’s the canonical reason she “understands heartbreak” despite being something she evidently didn’t care about when it came to RJ.
When she avoided Ivy in S2 and seemed more overtly distraught over that than her broken engagement (which in contrast was never mentioned again).
When her arc at the end of S1 ended with her deciding that she did actually “want it,” but then she gave the role up anyway bc she thought Ivy should have it.
When she picked a new boyfriend who had his own homoerotic friendship, played her on-stage boyfriend, struggled with a drug problem (despite going for clean-cut guys like her ex before her fight with Ivy), and refused to kiss her outside of the literal closet.
When she stayed to watch all of Bombshell while hyperventilating because she “wanted to see [Ivy] sing” and as a result she “knew that [the press] would love [Ivy]” because Ivy was “better than even Marilyn herself”.
When she didn’t even seem to gaf that her new boyfriend was being sent to jail for months at the end of the series!!
put her in too many Situations she deserves a beach ep
is this anything
it's called smash because that is what i'm going to do to tom levitt
ANDY MIENTUS HOW DO YOU FEEL BEING THE FUNNIEST MOTHERFUCKER ALIVE
