Who is this gameshow Host you speak of?

His name is Smash. I don’t have an actual intro on him yet though, but he’s the host of a popular game show called “Survive!” which is exactly the kind of game show you would expect from Alternia, I think.

There are puzzles and obstacle courses, and a lot of it ends in like maiming and sometimes actual death – He never likes the actual deaths to be aired though, he thinks people dying on the show is bad for ratings ‘cause then he can’t do an All-Stars season. Anyway.

In his downtime he operates escape rooms where.. He actually doesn’t mind all that much if the people die.

He loves puzzles and marine life!

He’s run the Survive! obstacle courses multiple times, he likes to make sure that it’s fair.

IF Smash was to ever have a redemption arc, what would it look like?

This ask has been sitting in my inbox for like three months I think.

I think if there was ever a chance of Smash getting a redemption arc, he would first need to be shown that everyone else in the world are not his playthings. His whole thing is seeing how hard he can push the boundary until people break, because at the end of the day his being a violet blood really kind of makes him untouchable from the responsibilities of actually breaking people.

He understands that his extremes are extremes, but at the end of the day he just lacks the empathy. Especially when he advertises his game show and his escape the room as they are, you signed up for this and I get to do what I want about it.

He would need someone to get through his head that no, you’re causing very real damage and hurting a great deal of people in the process. He lacks empathy in an extreme way, but he waves it away and replaces that with a boisterous and extroverted personality.

The reason I say he can’t have a redemption arc, unlike the 600 other ocs I have that have, is because he knows and understands all of this. He just doesn’t care.

And it’s Alternia, does anyone else really care? Anyone that matters?

You are going to HAVE to take charge. Like there's no universe where Smash enters a relationship with someone that is timid or soft. I'm not gonna say that this person has to be like into his line of work, they just kind of have to make their peace with it if they're gonna make it very far in the relationship. And most importantly, they'll have to shower him in gifts AND compliments. You'll have to earn the right to call him by his real name, after all!
