Evening groceries in hand, Haru lugs the heavy bags from the convenience store & back to his silent home. The ocean is beautiful in the dusk sky, the sea mirrors & distorts the sunlight that travels across the vast waters. It’s habit, but he stands closest to the rail & caries on with his walk.
Even if HE fears the lull of the ocean, Haru wishes Makoto were here to witness this sight.
It’s humid that night & Haru slides back the shoji screen in order to lessen the stuffiness. With grace, he refills the empty bowl with cold cream for the neighborhood strays & is about to depart until something catches his eye. Two cats nestled together despite the smoldering heat, their tails swishing & intertwining at points.
Cute, he thinks & wonders what Makoto would say.
Dawn is folding into the harsh morning light by the time Haru’s fingers begin to prune. Maybe he should get ready for the day, but maybe he’ll be lazy today. The idea is discarded as he sinks lower into the chilled tub.
I’ll have Makoto pull me out today.
The alarming smell of burning fish forces him from his day dream. It’s not common for Haru to screw up a meal ( even more surprising considering it’s MACKEREL ), but he supposes it’s okay to make mistakes. He plates the fillet & sets the table, but his mind continues to wander.
He can’t concentrate. His assignments continues to collect dust as his pencil scribbles elsewhere. He’s distracted, no doubt about that, but why? His doodles are usually vague & outlandish but the one he’s currently sketching is recognizable. It’s Makoto, however not even his artistic ability can capture the brunette’s true essence.
Wait … Why was he drawing Makoto in the first place?
His voice is soft as it drifts with the gentle breeze. it’s warm today, but NOT too suffocating. It’s a really nice day. It’s been maybe about two days since he’s spent some time with Makoto & he never realized how much having Makoto there affected his thoughts. Perhaps it was the short separation that caused his thoughts to linger so very often.
❝ Come over, I’m making green curry. ❞
