Reminisce: c.2012

It's a half-lie when I say I "only took interest to the show by the ripe age of 12". My earliest memory of seeing Vroomiz in any shape or form was when I visited family in Korea, directly from EBS at my grandmother's apartment as it aired the second season from what I remember? Anyways when we came back it was only a matter of time before I tried drawing fanart. I already liked Herbie and Cars a lot, so the concept of animal-like cars was very very enticing for my young mind. Here is my first sketchbook, a 30-page 9x12 pad bought from the dollar store (1,25$).

Here, Smiley Cypress is starting a new career in racing (one drawing ever).

I had (and still have!) a Fisher-Price Car-nivore™ unimaginatively named Tiger.

I think I tried to draw myself bending down to hug his hood. However, I have no idea what's going on with the two squares above. Go Random Russian Constructivism go

I have a fond memory of asking my older sister to help me draw Tommy's eye because she was much better than I with animals :)

Seems like I tried making a Vroomiz version of Mille Bornes (a French card game). Another good idea from past me! I think the ghostly Vroomie is Smiley.

Aha! this one helps me date when I drew these, because I remember drawing this after my local library got a copy of Batmobile: The Complete History by Mark Cotta Vaz. So this must have been drawn after July 2012. I fell in love with the Catmobile's design (Detective Comics #311) at first sight and I think I traced the Catmobile directly from the book. I love that this sketchpad is really just a record of all of the animal-like car media I could find online.
