SMITE headcanons

When children with terminal illness are on the verge of passing, Thoth will appear to them, and soothe them as they pass, often reading them story books. Once they pass, he hands them to Anubis to guide the little ones

Thoth is a very good singer, but hides it. Feeling his talent is a waste of time

Thoth has a whole list of roasts that he has at the ready to use against foes

Ishtar and Artemis often have archery contests, with plenty of trash talking included

If Jormungandr sees Thor and Loki doing their Middle finger battle he will straight up cancel Ragnarok and try again another day, not wanting to deal with the brothers’ pettiness.

Discordia is a big fan of Death Note, she has a huge collection of merchandise. Also, if anyone pisses her off, she threatens to write their name on the death note (even tho she doesn’t tell them it isn’t real, it’s about the F E A R)

Artemis often practices her archery, ensures he never misses a shot in battle (Although one time she missed and almost hit Achilles, that mans almost had Iliad flashbacks.)

Moth Man tourtures those who he considers deserve it, although he doesn’t discriminate what the crimes are exactly, or the age or gender. But he draws the line at children, feeling there’s no fun in harming them, no satisfaction.

Moth Man is weak to lamps, he just… S T A R E S. One time a victim escaped him by turning on a lamp and shoving it toward him. Needless to say, Moth Man was embarrassed and pissed at the same time

Anubis is gentle with children, protecting them when in danger, feeling they are too innocent to face death’s embrace. He understands what it is like to lose your innocence too early, as he went through that when Set killed his father figure, Osiris.

Anubis actually likes being scratched behind his ears, but never admits it (he feels he has an image to keep up)

Bellona often decorates her weapons during her downtime, etching Intricate designs.

Pele is a huge fan of Moana, often singing “how far I’ll go”, while dancing on lava pits

Kukulkan is deadly, but has a soft spot for children, but he holds distain toward cruel adults, not hesitating to spill their blood. He however, does recognize children who grew up into adults.

Kukulkan is able to perfectly guess the future, and this often makes it hard for anyone to surprise him, as he catches them lacking before they can do anything.

Bastet actually likes to knit, and makes her father and many other heroic gods scarves and the like, although she struggles with not trying to play with the yarn as she does

Isis is a very good cook, and always makes sure Horus eats well before he goes to do battle

Tiamat is very motherly, and surprisingly gentle to small children, especially orphan ones, some of them reminding her of her children she lost.

Cerberus loves it when Persephone gives him pets and scratches, he even rolls on his back so she can give him belly rubs. Although if any mortal catches him in this weak state, he can and will make their death 20xs worse than it would’ve been had they just stumbled to the shore.

Well, now we will have Avatar skins on Smite. We have RWBY skins too. That make me think about future battle pass licenced skins and this is my proposal.

Developer Update - Odin & Bastet

TARGET POINTS 

In our evaluation of Odin we saw that his ability 3 and 4 would be the best path forward. This will be explained using the next constraints.

Bastet’s rework targeted damage skills that had little redeeming quality. Her passive was simply bonus damage, something she does not need more of, so that will be targeted. Her 3 and 4 felt like the best places to add more to her kit without conflicting with other goals.

PRESERVE CORE PLAYSTYLE

ODIN

Odin is known for his aggressive warrior gameplay highlighted by burst damage and his ultimate, and these elements we decided to keep.

His bird-bomb combo is simple yet satisfying, and integral to Odin’s playstyle, so neither of these abilities will be undergoing any changes.

Odin’s Ultimate ability to cage in enemies is extremely iconic to him, and is also being preserved. However, quite a lot of design changes are being made to it

His ability 3, Gungnir’s Might, will receive the biggest rework.

BASTET

Bastet is loved by her players for being a high damage, high aggression, early game jungler. However, we do feel that she does those things to an extreme level that limits her kit from having more features, and causes snowbally or frustrating gameplay.

We will not be changing her Pounce or Razor Whip, as they best fit that playstyle. This combo just felt so iconically Bastet that it could not be changed. It fits her theme and playstyle equally well, and it feels great to use on the battleground.

Bastet’s kit will have some damage shifted away for more utility, and some of her early game strength shifted to more mid-to-late game impact.

She will continue to summon pets, as we will discuss next.

CHANGES

ODIN

#3 – GUNGNIR’S MIGHT (COMPLETE REWORK)

Point Blank Circle + Line Targeter

When Odin fires this ability he raises his spear to a throwing position and begins channeling. As he channels, he will progress through 3 different runes, pulsing out damage to enemies around him and slowing them each time he changes runes. Refiring the ability will cause Odin to throw his spear, and it will gain bonus effects based on the rune he was channeling at the time.

RUNE 1 – Odin pulses out an Attack Speed buff to himself and nearby allies, Gungnir deals damage.

RUNE 2 – Gungnir will become a homing projectile, guaranteed to hit the target Odin was aiming at, and will damage and slow them.

RUNE 3 – Gungnir will Stun an enemy god it hits.

#4  – RING OF SPEARS (PARTIAL REWORK)

This ability still summons a Ring of Spears that blocks enemies in or out, but many rules have been changed

The ring is now a clear octagon with eight individual walls

These walls can be broken individually by enemies who attack them

Enemy gods who leave the area over or through an unbroken wall (phantom, leaps) will be damaged by Gungnir itself flying from the ring to hit enemies directly as they leave the area.

BASTET

PASSIVE – TRACKING SCENT (COMPLETE REWORK)

Bastet will mark enemy gods she damages, causing them to leave a scent trail behind them. This trail will show Bastet where they are moving, while also giving her a movement speed buff while she is inside the path.

#3 – ENSNARING CLAW (COMPLETE REWORK)

Line Targeter

Bastet calls a single Cat pet that charges forward. When this pet his an enemy god, they are rooted and take damage.

After the pet hits a god, or when it finishes charges its complete distance, it continues to persist on the battleground and behave as a usual Bastet Cat. It will attack and slow the nearest enemy and can be killed by enemies.

Cats now are only killed by a specific number of basic attack now instead of having traditional HP.

#4 – GUARDIANS OF BAST (COMPLETE REWORK)

Self Stim

Bastet summons two cat guardians, one on each side of her. These mystical beasts empower all of Bastet’s abilities for an extended duration. They attack with her as she uses her abilities, increasing their area of effect and dealing additional damage.

The Cats summoned to her sides cannot be attacked and do not block players, minions, or projectiles.

Ability 1 gains a much larger 3 circle pounce area

Ability 2 gains a wider overlapping 3 cone area

Ability 3 becomes 3 line shots, firing out 3 cats on each use of the ability

The Bonus Damage dealt by the additional areas increases as you rank this ability (these additional cats can still be attacked as described for ability 3).
