Happy Canada Day Portland!
We are preparing to to unwind this holiday weekend with some soothing “Meadow” from Smith Teamaker. And what better way to enjoy our favorite chamomile blend than with a teaspoon of local honey in one of these huge mugs. “Meadow” is a caffeine free blend of chamomile, rooibos, hyssop, and rose petals.
We love to enjoy this with our Bee Local: Cherry Wood Smoked honey. A warm and toasty drink to unwind with at the start of a long weekend.
The art featured on our mugs is from local artist PAL and shows all of the gorgeous bridges that stretch through Portland!
Title: VANISHING GIRLS
Author: Lauren Oliver
Publication Date: March 10, 2015
Publisher: HarperCollins
Rating: 10/10
Summary from Goodreads:
Dara and Nick used to be inseparable, but that was before the accident that left Dara’s beautiful face scarred and the two sisters totally estranged. When Dara vanishes on her birthday, Nick thinks Dara is just playing around. But another girl, nine-year-old Madeline Snow, has vanished, too, and Nick becomes increasingly convinced that the two disappearances are linked. Now Nick has to find her sister, before it’s too late.
Review:
Lauren Olive’s VANISHING GIRLS captures and explores the family dynamic after an accident. I found Oliver’s writing to be compelling, honest, and captivating. The dual narration provides an extra dimension to the story and in understanding how the two sisters view each other and themselves. As always, Oliver knows how to captivate her readers and keep them turning by adding an element of suspense. THE VANISHING GIRLS is a fantastic novel that explores family dynamic and how one event can change that dynamic.
This weeks tea recommendation is: Lord Bergamot from Smith Teamakers.
"A a flavor somewhat superior to traditional Earl Grey. Fragrant Ceylon Dimbulla and Uva are artfully combined with select teas from India's Assam valley, then scented with the essence of bergamot from Reggio Calabria, Italy. Excellent for drinking whenever you wish to feel like royalty."
Lord Bergamot is amazing! If you are someone like me who love Earl Grey, this tea is for you! The rich, dark flavor of the tea is paired perfectly with bergamot. This is a wonderful blend!
About:
The Teamakers at Smith blend in small batches to ensure that the leaves and flowers are packed not crushed. Typically what they blend in one day will be packed that very same day in an oversized biodegradable full leaf sachet or brewed and bottled.
