When we got tired of eating pies with unidentifiable fillings in the bad old days, we used to treat ourselves to the macaroni cheese from Copper Bite, Smith & Caughey’s. Today, after attending the Entrées session with Yael Sochat, Tony Tan and Karena & Casey at the Auckland Writers Festival, Smith & Caughey’s beckoned. I had the pleasure to catch up the friendly folk at the homewares department, from whom I used to borrow props for food shoots. And lovely to say hello to friends at Bite. Yes, they have had an upgrade and that warranted a zushed up moniker. What to eat at Smith & Caughey’s? Macaroni Cheese, of course.
