As I write this I am off the beer. Every year I do a "Dry January." If this was not the see I would doubtless visit The Black Cat for one of their excellent beers. Bars like this are a favourite of mine. The beer is always fantastic, they are always run by enthusiastic and knowledgable people and the absence of more generic beers means that idiots tend to avoid them.
They are also open ("during term time" according to their website) on weekday mornings for coffee and bacon sandwiches.
