As much as Nishinoya wanted to focus on the game to come, he was far too pumped up to not work up the crowd a bit. Like seriously, look how many people had come to cheer for Karasuno! Not to mention Kiyoko-san’s banner was looking extra perfect today. He could've sworn he’d seen her fixing it up beforehand. A little bit of a paint fix here or repairing a tear there. Kiyoko-san was really the best manager ever and he was hella lucky to have her around.
“Ka-ra-su-no!” he cheered in time with the crowd, pumping his fist. Hell yeah, this was going to be a fantastic game.
Though it seemed Shiratorizawa had brought plenty of fans as well, and they answered with a call of their own, welcoming Karasuno to the court. That was... eerily nice of them. But whatever. They could be nice while also being incredibly scary. That always made things more fun, after all.
But something caught his eye on Shiratorizawa’s side of the stands. Well, more like some one. The red haired girl in the near the center-fifth row, beside her several other girls dressed in their school jackets. Why did she look so... familiar? He was about to pass it off as another random thought when it hit him like a serve to the back of the neck- a flurry of images from those girl’s basketball magazines, the short redhead he’d seen make a totally awesome spike at the tournament the other day. It was her! The girl some said was the best female Ace this side of Japan. And she’s... gorgeous! Like, as beautiful and stunning as Kiyoko-san! Which was a mighty high compliment coming from him. But he had to tear his gaze away. He couldn’t lose focus.
Not when he had a game to win.
It was after the awards ceremony and his heart was still pumping like mad. He’d doubled back to check to make sure no one had forgotten anything, only to find that girl from before talking to the stragglers of the Shiratorizawa team.
What should he do? Should he talk to her? No that would be stupid. He didn’t even remember her name. Moi? Suna? Shit, why was it so hard to pinpoint things like that? Damnit, why couldn’t talking to people be as simple as playing volleyball. Not that it was very simple, really. Just took time. Instinct built up through experience. People were just so different that it was always hard to get a read on them in social situations.
That said, not like he’ take forever to get comfortable with someone. maybe he should just go and talk to her...
