Messiah’s Horn:
A mystical item that can teleport the user between Lands in Makai.
Messiah’s Eye:
A mystical item that can teleport the user between Lands in Makai.
The Keys of Norn:
Legendary items that are used to initiate the Norn fate programs.
VineCom:
A COMP that stores and manages contracted Demons. It can connect to the Devil Raiser and VineCenter.
DeviDat / DVDAS:
“Devil Data”. A compendium program of all the Demons who have become your allies.
DeviPhone:
A mobile phone that can be used in Makai. You can use it to connect to the VineCenter.
VineCenter:
A central hub for managing your Demon contracts. You can store and retrieve contracts from here. WebNet access is also available here.
Circle Gate / Makai Gate:
A powerful teleportation gate for travelling between the Lands of Makai. Black & Red Books require the Messiah Horns and Eyes to teleport.
Fusion:
You can combine your Demon allies to create new Demons, or increase the Level of your Demon partner.
WebNet:
Link and trade your Demons with other players, using the GBC cable. You can also battle against your friends!
BattleNet:
Fight on the digital battlefield against other Demon-users! Versus DeviChil NPCs and other characters from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.
Net Raiser:
A digital version of your summoning gun. There are no restrictions on Demon summoning Class or Level.

Book 1: “The gift of the “Holy Lion” was given to him. He took the Lion as an ally, and bestowed an Emblem upon it, granting the Lion a new power.”
Book 2: “The path of Ragnarok… Two Devils bound by blood searched for the instrument of untold divine power. Their performance awakened the greatest divine being…”
Book 3: “The siblings stood facing the void. Their words became a spell, and the spell divided and transformed them. The words they spoke: “Holy Children”.”
Book 4: “The forces of Light and Dark merge as one, while fate sleeps. The sacred words were spoke, and from the maelstrom grew the “Light Palace”. Here, resides the greatest divine.”

Part 8 – Central Land:
[ Central Land – Dark Palace Throne Room ]
Mirai must proceed North to the Dark Palace to advance the story. She meets with the Demon King.
Demon King: “Oh? Why have you returned, Devil Child?”
Mirai: “……”
Demon King: “Hm? What’s on your mind?”
Mirai: “My papa. Where is he?”
Demon King: “What…? Why do you think I know where he is?”
Mirai: “Your daughter, Elegy, told me everything. Lord Azel… release my father!!!”
Azel: “……”
Azel: “I’ll make you regret this!”
Azel’s disguise vanishes and his true form is revealed.
Azel: “A Devil Child is no match for the great Lord Azel! I’ll throw your corpse into the Abyss!”
Boss battle with Azel. When Mirai wins:
Azel: “The Devil Children are truly as powerful as the legends say...”
Mirai: “Where is he!? Where are you holding my papa!?”
Azel: “…Devil Child… I sealed your father deep within the Dark Palace, where no one would be able to hear him.”
Azel: “I thought it was all within my grasp… I could rule the world and have power over everyone within it… I could shape it to my will… All I had to do was wait until Lucifer let his guard down, then strike and take his place as the King of Makai.”
Azel: “The power is still in my hands, and I won’t let you take it from me! I’m not done yet! I’ll take the Messiah Eyes from you and throw you into the Abyss, like all the others!!!”
Mirai: “You lied to me and tricked me into running all over Makai on a wild goose chase! You made me fight freakin’ DEMONS and tried to make me kill my friend, Setsuna! It’s YOUR TURN to get thrown into the abyss, Azel!!!”
Another boss fight with Azel. When Mirai wins:
Azel: “…Lucifer… I sealed him in a room here. I guess the fate of the world now lies in your hands…”
Setsuna enters.
Setsuna: “Mirai! You defeated Azel on your own!?”
Setsuna: “So… the Keys of Norn…”
Mirai: “Yeah. I know.”
Setsuna: “I brought all of the Messiah Horns. Let’s assemble the Keys of Norn!”
Mirai and Setsuna combine the Eyes and Horns to create the Keys of Norn.
Setsuna: “Done! Now let’s go find Lucifer!”
Proceed through the Dark Palace until Mirai finds Lucifer:
Lucifer: “……”
Mirai: “…papa!”
Lucifer: “…… … Mirai…?”
Setsuna: “Help me get these chains off of our father!”
Mirai: “Right! Papa!”
Setsuna and Mirai free Lucifer.
Lucifer: “Mirai? Setsuna and Mirai! I’m so happy to see you both are safe!”
Mirai: “…… Papa, the Angels wanted me to deliver a message to you…”
Lucifer: “I know what they want to say; they’re awaiting our arrival at the Oracle Room. The Angels are following an ancient bond of fate… just as you have been. You were drawn here to decide the fate of the world.”
Mirai: “…me!?”
Lucifer: “Mirai… I wrote a program that will use the power of Makai to slowly infuse itself into our worlds upon the activation of Ragnarok. It will break the cycle and awaken a new era—a future of infinite possibility, unbound by fate.”
Lucifer: “It is not my destiny to decide the fate of the our worlds, and so I cannot activate Ragnarok. I can only offer it to you as one possible outcome. The final decision is your choice, Mirai.”
Lucifer: “I shall not abandon you after you fought so hard to get here, my child. I will join you as an ally.”
Lucifer transfers himself into Mirai’s Demon storage.
Setsuna: “Mirai… sister… I’ll do everything I can to help you! The Oracle Room is in a place called the ‘Light Palace.’ You can get there through a Circle Point located somewhere within the Dark Palace.”
Setsuna: “Take this ‘Double Chamber’—it will allow you to load more Demons into your KingRaiser.”
Setsuna exits and Veil transforms into King Gryphon.
Inscription on Lucifer’s statue: “Every Messiah has fallen.”
[ Sanctuary – Light Palace ]
Mirai encounters the Angels outside of the Oracle Room.
Nagahisa: “…this door leads to the Oracle.”
Nagahisa: “Mirai. Are you here to decide the world’s fate for yourself?”
Elegy: “So… you were the one to kill my father.”
Elegy: “Please! Give us the Keys of Norn! Let us cleanse the world of sin!”
Mirai: “Elegy, you’re here too?”
Elegy: “Yes. I’ll see this through, alongside the Angels! There’s no turning back now…”
Nagahisa: “Resetting the world will allow us to fix our mistakes! If we allow it to continue in it’s current state, there is no hope for the future…”
Nagahisa: “We must cleanse the world of our past errors! Armageddon must be activated!”
Mirai: “Will that really solve everything? Without a past, we have nothing to learn from, and we’ll keep repeating our mistakes…”
Elegy: “The Angels and I have considered everything and we believe this is the right path. Please give us the Keys of Norn!”

Mirai wishes for a new era.
Star God: “I shall grant your wish!”
[ Earth – Harajuku, Tokyo ]
The people of Earth rush outside and gather to look up at the sky.
Person 1: “Ah! The sky!”
Person 2: “The sky’s normal again!”
[ Ice Land – Frost Town ]
Dust, the Yeti, exits his house.
Dust: “Oho! I knew you could do it, Mirai!”
[ Marble Land – Coliseum ]
The chosen Demon Lord exits the coliseum.
Demon Lord: “Our world is saved…!”
[ Sand Land – Pyramid ]
Isis exits the pyramid.
Isis: “The new era has begun! The dawn of change is upon us!”
[ Fire Land – Casino Town ]
Casino Town is being rebuilt. Mammon appears.
Mammon: “Ohoho! My adorable little Mirai makes me proud!”
[ Earth – Harajuku, Tokyo ]
Setsuna: “I knew I could count on you, Mirai! You brought the dawn of a new world!”
Setsuna: “Have the duties of the Devil Children come to an end for now? I need to thank you in person, the next time we meet!”
Game credits roll.
[ Light Palace – Oracle Room ]
Star God: “Your wish has been granted, and a new era has begun.”
Star God: “As a special gift to you… I have connected the final Circle Gate to the Abyss. Perhaps you can find more Demon allies there. Farewell, child!”
Star God disappears.
Mirai can travel freely though all the Lands of Makai and Earth to collect the bonus Demons and see the world rebuilding. Try exploring the Lands of Makai and Earth again, and visiting the previous Demon Lords you defeated; some of them might want to be Mirai’s ally!
[ The Abyss – Pandemonium ]
*For clarity: this ‘land’ of Makai is called The Abyss; the only accessible area of the land is the dungeon itself, which is named Pandemonium.
As Mirai enters The Abyss, Zebul’s voice is heard:
Zebul: “Welcome to The Abyss, Mirai.”
There is a healing pool and an item shop/training service in Pandemonium, near the gate. Mirai encounters several Demon Lords as she advances through the dungeon.
First up is Phegor, the adorable baby Lord.
Phegor: “Devil Child Mirai…”
Phegor: “I am Lord Phegor of The Abyss! The new era of Ragnarok has begun; I want you to show me the power that made it happen!”
Mid-boss battle versus Phegor. When Mirai wins:
Phegor: “Hurrah for the Devil Children! Please continue through Pandemonium.”
The next Demon Lord Mirai encounters is Berith, the pretty-boy Kodona knight.
Berith: “Mirai! We finally meet!”
Berith: “I am Lord Berith of The Abyss. The new era has begun, and still you desire to test your mettle in this forsaken place. Come, spar with me!”
Mid-boss battler versus Berith. When Mirai wins:
Berith: “Impressive! I look forward to watching your progress through Pandemonium!”
In the final room of Pandemonium is Zebul, the final boss of the game itself.
Zebul: “Hello Mirai! I haven’t seen you in a while!”
Zebul: “This is the deepest point of The Abyss. That you’ve made it this far… is a testament to your power.”
Zebul: “My real name is Zebul.”
Mirai: “Zebul…? I don’t think we’ve met before?”
Zebul: “…heh heh heh.”
Zebul: “Battle me, Devil Child. Then I will reveal the truth to you!”
Boss battle versus Zebul. When Mirai wins:
Zebul: “You’ve gotten so strong, Mirai! You are the first one to defeat me since I was cast into The Abyss!”
Mirai: “You… who are you?”
Zebul: “I thought you’d be the one to recognize me!”
Zebul transforms into Zett.
Zett: “Hee hee! It’s me!”
Mirai: “Zett! You’re Zebul!?”
Zett: “Yup! Zebul is trapped in The Abyss, but as Takazyo Zett, I can temporarily make an appearance in the outside world.”
Mirai: “Ah! I found my Papa here in Makai, just like you said! And I saved the world by activating Ragnarok.”
Zett: “Actually, that’s why I told you about him and sent you to Makai to look for him… because Ragnarok wasn’t your decision… it was mine.”
Mirai: “……”
Zett: “You do get credit for activating Ragnarok, though. You’re the only one who could make our desired fate a reality.”
Mirai: “……”
Zett: “Lucifer’s program has also been activated… no Human or Demon will be bound by fate again; the future will instead be shaped by action and free will. Well, in theory. Who knows how long that program will take to completely rewrite fate!”
Zett: “Remember that you’re not the only one who inherited the blood of Lucifer. On this journey you found your father… and your brother.”
Zett: “Remember all that you have learned fulfilling the duty of a Devil Child. It may benefit you in the future.”
Zett vanishes.
[ Bonus Demons ]
If you can find Azel skulking around in The Abyss, he will join Mirai as an ally.
After defeating Zebul, Mirai can return to Phegor and Berith, who will join her.
Bring Phegor and Berith (in your active pool) to Zebul’s room and examine the place where Zebul once stood. The two Demon Lords will tell Mirai she can summon Zebul if she recites the correct spell, and a kana input screen appears. Read the Book of Raziel for a hint!

Part 5 - Forest Land:
[ Forest Land – Forest Gate and Bedd Town Area ]
Mirai arrives in Forest Land. From the Circle Gate she proceeds through the South Forest to Bed Town. Mirai will learn the following information in this area:
There are three dragons in Forest land: Nidhoggr in the west, Dahaka in the east, and Crom Cruach in the north.
There is a Demon in the western forest whose turmoil is affecting his memory.
Harpy is in the north forest; she sings beautifully.
The Nessie that lives in the lake is very lonely.
Nisroc is famous for making Golden Apple Pie.
Nisroc is searching for food ingredients guarded by the three dragons, but cannot fight them on his own.
Belial is the Lord of Forest Land; he has a reputation for being underhanded and short-tempered.
Isis would like Mirai to return and visit her (activated on bridge). If Mirai returns to Isis in Sand Land, she is gifted with a special Sphinx ally.
If Mirai acquires an Emblem, Franken can increase the Rank of Mirai’s Sphinx.
DeviPhone messages:
Setsuna is currently in Harajuku.
Zett is unavailable.
Isis reminds Mirai to visit her (if she hasn’t already).
[ Forest Land – Lord Belial’s House ]
Belial: “Oh? Are you the rumored Devil Child? Heh heh heh…”
Elegy enters.
Elegy: “Belial! I demand to speak with you!”
Belial: “Y-yes! Elegy, Ma’am! Uh, well, this is—erm—uh…”
Elegy: “Oh, shut up! Listen; I have a message for you!”
Belial: “F-forgive my rudeness, Princess! I was—uh—not expecting the Demon King’s daughter to grace me with her presence—“
Mirai: “Wait—did you just say she’s the Demon King’s daughter!?
Elegy: “I won’t deny it; I am.”
Mirai: “Didn’t you also call him ‘idiot’ and ‘bastard’, the last time we met…?”
Elegy: “Yeah; because he is. I fucking hate that guy, and so should you.”
Belial: “…!!! …Heh heh… I wonder what the Demon King would think of his daughter speaking that way about him…?”
Elegy: “Shut the fuck up, Belial! You think I care about your threats!?”
Elegy: “Now, what’s the status of the Golden Apple Pie?”
Belial: “Oh, shiiiiiiit… um… it’s going to be… a little while longer.”
Elegy: “If I don’t get my pie soon; Forest Land is going to need a new Lord.”
Belial: “Oh, shiiiiiiit…”
Elegy: “So, Mirai; the Demon King’s gone quiet. He’s up to something.”
Elegy: “That bastard took something from me, and I plan to get it back. Which one of us is going to kick his ass first?”
Mirai: “……”
Elegy: “I’m heading out to meet Setsuna’s brother, Nagahisa. Isis told me he’s kind of like you two… except that instead of being half-Devil, he’s half-Angel; an Angel Child.”
Mirai: “Nagahisa is an Angel Child!?”
Elegy: “Mmm-hmm.”
Elegy: “Belial! If my Golden Apple Pie isn’t done when I get back; I’ll kill you.”
Elegy exits.
Belial: “Well, I’m doomed.”
Belial: “Wait—! Oh, great and powerful Mirai! If you defeat the three dragons and gather the Golden Apple Pie ingredients, I shall reward you with the Messiah Eye you seek!”
Belial: “Bring me the Golden Apples, the Golden Butter, and the Golden Eggs!”
Mirai: “…okay.”
Mirai must battle the three dragons in the East, North, and West forests to obtain the ingredients. I believe these can be completed in any order.
[ North Forest Land – Dead Forest ]
The Dead Forest is located north of Bedd Town. Mirai encounters Harpy on the way to Crom Cruach:
Harpy: “You’ve travelled a great distance to hear me sing!”
Harpy sings her song for Mirai.
Harpy: “Hmm? A Demon in turmoil? I think I can help.”
Harpy exits, and Mirai continues on to Crom Cruach:
Crom Cruach: “I am the unparalleled Dragon Lord Crom Cruach! Are you here for the legendary Golden Butter? Face me in battle, and it shall be yours!”
Battle with Crom Cruach. Mirai wins.
Crom Cruach: “Ahaha! Very good! Here is the Golden Butter!”
Mirai acquires the Golden Butter.
[ West Forest Land – Wetland Forest ]
The Wetland Forest is located west of Bedd Town. On the way to Nidhoggr, Mirai will pass by Black Rajah, a Demon overcome with inner strife.
Black Rajah: “……who? … what…?”
If Mirai returns to Black Rajah after speaking with the Harpy, she will appear beside her:
Black Rajah: “…I can’t remember anything.”
Harpy: “There you are, Mirai! I think the power of a Devil Child can amplify my song’s effect. Now we can help this Demon!”
Harpy sings for Black Rajah.
Black Rajah: “…my spirit is calmed… and my memory has returned!”
Harpy: “It worked!”
Black Rajah: “Thank you! Your song has restored my senses. And thank you, Mirai, for leading Harpy to me. Will you allow me to repay you by becoming your ally?”
Mirai can recruit Black Rajah, and Harpy will say good-bye. If Mirai rejects Black Rajah, the Demon’s turmoil returns and Harpy must repeat her song.
When Mirai meets Nidhoggr:
Nidhoggr: “I am the unrivaled Dragon Lord Nidhoggr! Have you come seeking the Golden Apples? If you can defeat me in battle, I shall give them to you!”
Battle with Nidhoggr. Mirai wins.
Nidhoggr: “Impressive! Here is your prize; Golden Apples!”
Mirai acquires the Golden Apples.
[ East Forest Land – False Forest ]
The False Forest is located east of Bedd Town.
When Mirai meets Dahaka:
Dahaka: “I am the peerless Dragon Lord Dahaka! Do you wish to obtain the Golden Eggs I guard? Prove your worth in battle!”
Battle with Dahaka. Mirai wins.
Dahaka: “You truly are worthy! Here; you have earned the Golden Eggs!”
Mirai acquires the Golden Eggs.
When Mirai has all three ingredients, head back to Belial.
[ Forest Land – Lord Belial’s House ]
Mirai speaks to Belial.
Belial: “Aha! Fantastic! All of the ingredients are here!”
Belial: “Go fetch Nisroc; he’s the only one who can make the Golden Apple Pie!”
[ Forest Land – Bedd Town ]
Mirai speaks to the Nisroc standing near the lake.
Nisroc: “Ingredients for the Golden Apple Pie! Wow!”
Nisroc: “I’ll make it… but only if you make me your ally! I want to join you!”
Mirai contracts Nisroc.
Nisroc: “Yay! Now I have cool friends!”
[ Forest Land – Lord Belial’s House ]
Mirai speaks to Belial.
Belial: “You’ve returned. Did you find Nisroc? We must make the Pie—quickly!”
Nisroc appears.
Nisroc: “I got this! Watch me go!”

Belial: “This is… the legendary Golden Apple Pie, which has unimaginably delicious flavor and perfect crust to filling ratio!!!”
Nisroc returns to Mirai.
Belial: “Mwa ha ha… this pie will surely appease Princess Elegy and spare my life!”
Belial: “As for you, Mirai…”
Belial: “The Demon King plans to conquer Earth by unleashing demons upon it, to wipe out humanity! And I shall earn his favor by casting you into the Abyss! But not before I take all your Messiah eyes for myself!!!”
Battle against Belial. When Mirai wins:
Belial: “Nooo! It wasn’t supposed to go like this—I MEAN—HA HA JUST KIDDING. Take this Purple Messiah Eye and please don’t kill me!!!”
Mirai receives the Purple Messiah Eye.
Belial: “This will open the Circle Gate to Earth, where you can go and stop the Demon King’s diabolical scheme! ~ahem~ Yes… I was… uh… just testing you… I’ve been on your side this whole time…”
Mirai can now head South to the Circle Gate.
[ Forest Land – South Forest & Forest Gate Area ]
Mirai encounters Elegy on the way to the Gate:
Elegy: “Oh! You’ve got the Purple Messiah Eye? That greedy Belial wouldn’t have given it up easily…”
Elegy: “Well, Devil Child; I’m impressed. Show me your strength, too! Heed my summon—Demogorgon!”
Battle versus Elegy’s summoned Demogorgon and Asmodeus. When Mirai wins:
Elegy: “Aha! You are strong!”
Angel Raphael enters.
Raphael: “I am the great Angel Raphael. Miss Elegy, I presume? Lord Nagahisa wishes to speak with you.”
Elegy: “Tch. Finally! It took him long enough to agree to this. Let’s go!”
Raphael: “A moment, please…”
Raphael approaches Mirai.
Raphael: “Mirai; you have also witnessed the fall of your world. At this moment, as we meet; this war between the Dark and the Light reaches its final chapter.”
Mirai: “A war between the Light and Dark…? …what do you mean…???”
Elegy: “He’s referring to my bastard father trying to wipe humans off the face of the Earth. I have no loyalty to that selfish man… and I’m not going to return to his side!”
Elegy: “If you want to save humanity, or whatever, you should hurry back to Earth and do something about the demon invasion.”
Elegy and Raphael exit.
Mirai proceeds to the Circle Gate and uses the Purple Messiah Eye.
Another dream sequence occurs:

[ Harajuku – Apartment ]
Mirai awakens in an apartment bedroom.
Mirai: “This… this is my room… My home.”
Veil: “I sense something strange! Be careful, Mirai!”
Mirai can find the following information by examining items in the apartment:
The TV news is reporting the demon invasion; people are being attacked if they venture outside.
The current date is 12th of July, a Wednesday
The current time is 11:00 AM
[ Harajuku – General Area ]
Mirai can learn the following information from human NPCs in the area:
People have been wondering where Mirai disappeared to, and are glad to see she’s safe.
People are freaking out over the demons.
The strange weather is continuing.
People are raiding the shops and stockpiling items.
There is a hotel in the Underground Street where Mirai can rest and revive her allies.
Mirai can use the Training Institute in the Underground Street to evolve her Sphinx into a Death Sphinx if she has the Death Emblem item.
There is a VineCenter in the Underground Street.
A boy playing BattleNet in the VineCenter isn’t letting anyone else have a turn.
Mirai’s school has been invaded by snow ghosts!
[ Harajuku – Elementary School ]
Inside the school, Mirai discovers that the children are trapped in the school because if they move, snow ghosts will appear! (Possibly a homage to Persona’s Snow Queen quest?) There is a locked classroom where strange noises are coming from. To open the locked door, Mirai must find Principal Hanya, who is trapped on the rooftop of the school.
Principal Hanya: “Thank goodness you’re safe, Mirai! The snow ghosts are attacking the children! But, how can we stop this!?”
Principal Hanya: “What!? Do you think they might be coming from the locked classroom!? Well, if anyone can defeat these ghosts it would be you; the strongest person I know! Take this key and save the children, Mirai!”
Mirai obtains the key. When she opens the locked classroom and enters, she is approached by the ‘snow ghosts’.
Demon: “She … sees… us…!?”
Demon: “She… can… see…!?”
Mirai battles with Nine-Tailed Fox and Pifrus. When Mirai wins:
Nine-Tailed Fox: “She’s very strong! If we were that strong, we could have protected our home from the demons that attacked.”
Nine-Tailed Fox: “We came to Harajuku centuries ago, to help the humans and live peacefully. The demons pushed us out of our home, and we hid in this room.”
Mirai: “So that means you’re not demons from Makai? And you weren’t sent by the Demon King to attack Earth…”
Nine-Tailed Fox: “The invading demons spilled forth from below the surface of the Earth. That is where they are being summoned from.”
Mirai: “They’re coming from the Underground Street…?”
Nine-Tailed Fox: “Your strength has inspired us to protect humans once again! We will drive the demons from this building!”
The friendly demons vanish. Mirai can exit the room and talk to the students in the school areas.
Student 1: “Suddenly, the ghosts are gone?”
Student 2: “Mirai! You beat-up the ghosts!? Hurrah!”
Student 3: “What happened?”
Student 4: “Where did all the ghosts go?”
Student 5: “It’s so quiet in the school now…”
Some students mention the Underground Street:
Student 6: “It’s safe here, but people are getting attacked near the Underground Street.”
Student 7: “A student passing by the Underground Street got seriously injured…”
It’s time for Mirai to investigate!
[ Harajuku – Underground Street ]
Mirai goes to the VineCenter and speaks to the boy playing BattleNet.
Boy: “You’re annoying! Get lost! You can’t have a turn; this is MY game!”
Mirai can choose to persist or give up. Each option gives a different response.
If Mirai chooses to persist:
Boy: “What the hell’s wrong with you? I won’t let some brat mess with me!”
If Mirai chooses to give up:
Veil: “Wait—! This boy is not human!”
Boy: “Tch! I’ve been discovered!”
The boy is revealed to be an Arche demon in disguise.
Arche: “On the orders of the Demon King; I shall not abandon my post!”
Battle with Arche. When Mirai wins:
Arche: “No! I must continue summoning the demons…”
Arche vanishes, and the computer’s screen flashes.
Veil: “Mirai! We should investigate that computer!”
Mirai uses the computer.
BattleNet: “Access…”
BattleNet: “Devil Child Mirai… Welcome to BattleNet!”
A demon, Kuriotes, appears in the computer.
Kuriotes: “We will wipe all humans from the face of the Earth and claim it as a new Land for the demons! You will not stop us!”
Mirai: “Did the Demon King put you up to this?”
Kuriotes: “We are faithful servants of the Demon King! He has commanded us to conquer Earth and destroy all who stand in our way!”
Battle with Kuriotes. When Mirai wins:
Kuriotes: “Amazing… so this is the power of the legendary Devil Children , who can alter fate itself…?”
Kuriotes: “A strange coincidence… the Angel Child is also here, at the Temple to the East…”
Kuriotes: “Ha ha ha… I never thought I’d see the day… …”
With Kuriotes defeated, the summoning stops and the threat to Earth has been halted.
[ Harajuku – General Area ]
Mirai can learn the following information from human NPCs in the area:
People are relieved the demons are disappearing, but things are still a mess.
People are worried the demons will come back.
The entrance to the park is in the South-East corner of the Harajuku map.
[ Harajuku – Park & Shrine ]
As Mirai enters the Park area, Setsuna calls on the DeviPhone to inform Mirai his Death Cerberus ranked up to a Hell Cerberus, and sends the new Devil Data.
The ground in the park is frozen. Slide across the ice to find the East path to the Shrine.
Mirai speaks to Nagahisa at the Shrine:
Nagahisa: “We meet again, Mirai.”
Nagahisa: “Elegy told me you’re searching Makai for your father.”
Mirai: “Oh! …yeah. I am…”
Mirai: “Nagahisa… you’re really the Angel Child, aren’t you? Fighting alongside the Angels…”
Elegy: “He’s not the only one, Mirai! I have joined forces with the Angels to oppose the Demon King and destroy Makai!”
Mirai: “Elegy—but, why!? Isn’t Makai your home?”
Elegy: “That place is no longer my home! My father has corrupted Makai through his selfish plans of ruling over all the worlds! I just can’t understand what he’s thinking!”
Nagahisa: “The Angels have decided to vanquish every demon loyal to the Demon King. They will cleanse Makai and Earth of its evil! Elegy and I are joining the Angels on the side of Good in this fight against Evil!”
Mirai: “Do you believe yourself to be righteous? It seems to me that the Angels are just as keen to wipe out their opponents as the demons! Aren’t you just trading one extreme for another? How can you call the Demon King’s actions evil when you are doing the exact same thing?”
Nagahisa: “You’re wrong…!!!”
Nagahisa: “… I get it. You can’t see the truth because your blood is tainted with the blood of demons. Devil Child Mirai—I will show you my justice by force!!!”
Mirai: “Bring it on!”
Mirai battles against Nagahisa’s allies; Death Sphinx, Asmodeus, Demogorgon. When Mirai wins:
Nagahisa: “… … …”
Nagahisa: “How much more must I train before I can vanquish all evil?”
Elegy: “Mirai! If you wish to understand how I feel, then go to Fire Land and witness how corrupt Makai has become!”
Elegy: “…and Lord Mammon knows your father.”
Mirai: “R-really!?”
Elegy: “Take this Red Messiah’s Eye; it will open the Gate to Fire Land.”
Elegy gives Mirai the Red Messiah’s Eye.
Nagahisa: “The Circle Gate is behind the Shrine. Go and witness the corruption in Fire Land. Open your eyes to the truth, Mirai…”
Team Angel disappears.
Veil begins to transform.
Veil: “Huh!? I’m burning! I can feel a new power surging from within!”
Veil’s rank increases to Hell Gryphon.
Mirai continues to the Circle Gate and uses the Red Messiah Eye.
Another dream sequence occurs:
????: “Gather the Norn Keys, my child, for this world is on the brink of... We must arise to meet our... and awaken a sleeping... Only then can we bring the... a new...!”

Part 4 - Sand Land:
[ Sand Land – Ghost Town ]
Mirai will learn the following information from the demons in town:
Lord Isis is expecting to meet with a human child in her Pyramid.
Another human child is on their way to visit Isis.
Isis is renowned for her wisdom, and well liked by the demons of Sand Land.
There is a dangerous graveyard east of the Pyramid.
A rumor says that a human was buried in the graveyard.
A runaway Deva is staying in the hotel.
Additional movement actions are available when Mirai rides Veil; she can move over quicksand hazards.
A portable phone item exists in Makai.
The Casino has several mini-games that can be played for cash prizes and rare demons.
Demons can now be enhanced and learn skills at the Training Center.
Mirai talks to the Deva in the hotel:
Deva: “I came here to escape the conflict in Marble Land. My parents are probably worried sick! …eh? There’s peace in Marble Land? Now I can return home safely! Please come visit me if you ever return to Marble Land.”
If you return to Marble Land and speak with the Deva family, they will give Mirai a “Giggle Bag” quest item as a thank-you present. The Giggle Bag can be given to NitaNita, who will join Mirai.
Mirai talks to Zett by the north entrance to the town:
Zett: “Hey Mirai! I’ve been waiting for you.”
Mirai: “What’s up?”
Zett: “I have a present for you! This is a Makai smartphone called a ‘DeviPhone’! It connects you to the VineCenter, so you can manage your demons from anywhere. …as long as you’ve got a signal.”
Zett: “When you find out more about your dad, call and give me an update, okay? Now go to the Pyramid and search for him.”
Zett leaves. Veil speaks with Mirai:
Veil: “Oh, Mirai! I was born in this land. My sister Hippogriff and I lived here until Hresvelgr attacked and sealed us away. It happened not far from this town. I think she’s still sealed…can we look for her?”
If Mirai speaks to Zett again:
Zett: “You should go to the Pyramid.”
[ Sand Land – Graveyard Area ]
Mirai will learn the following information from the demons in this area:
The Pyramid has many traps and some demons have not returned from visiting it.
Veil and Hippogriff were last seen together near the largest grave in the graveyard.
Near the graves, Veil will speak to Mirai:
Veil: “Wait, Mirai! Those two graves weren’t here when I was sealed away. Something’s strange about them; let’s take a look.”
When Mirai investigates the grave, a ghostly woman with long hair appears:
Woman: “…Mirai…”
Mirai: “Who… are you?”
Woman: “……”
Woman: “…perhaps it’s better that you’ve forgotten; don’t worry about me.”
Woman: “You know now, don’t you? You wouldn’t have come this far into Makai if you thought you were a normal human.”
Mirai: “My father is a devil, apparently. I’ve inherited his blood, which makes me a half-devil. I’m searching Makai for him… I’m still not sure what to think of him!”
Woman: “…Mirai…”
Woman: “Continue your search, and find him. Humans may believe that demons are evil, but that’s not true. Your father is the kindest man I ever met, and he has the most beautiful eyes…”
Woman: “…I’ve used up all my power to speak with you. Please meet with Isis in the Pyramid; she will be able to help you.”
The ghost disappears.
Mirai: “…who was she? I’m sure I met her before, but… I can’t recall her face. For some reason I feel like crying…”
Mirai can make a detour on the way to the Pyramid to find Hippogriff sealed away.
Veil: “I remember this place! This is where Hippogriff and I were sealed away by Hresvelgr!”
Stone: “ … help me …”
Veil breaks the stone to free Hippogriff.
Hippogriff: “…Whew! I’m finally free!”
Veil: “Hippogriff! Are you alright?”
Hippogriff: “My sister! You saved me! Yay! I’m going to join you and your friends!”
Hippogriff joins Mirai.
[ Sand Land – Pyramid ]
In this dungeon, Mirai needs to visit three Stamp checkpoints in order to be granted an audience with Isis. Souta is also hanging around the Pyramid.
Souta: “Well, well… if it isn’t Veil?”
Souta: “Hresvelgr is looking for you, on behalf of the Demon King! And I’m still salty about what happened between us on Earth. Get lost, or I’ll take my revenge!”
Mirai will learn the following information from the demons in this area:
Paimon was banished by the Demon King; rumors say she’s been seen in the Pyramid.
The Demon King has commanded all the demons to destroy all humans, and Earth is quickly falling into chaos.
There is a Harpy in Forest Land who sings songs with special effects.
Skull Clown is trapped in a treasure chest; he joins Mirai when found.
When Mirai encounters Paimon:
Mirai: “Paimon…!?”
Paimon: “Ah, so we meet again, little girl!”
Mirai: “Are you here to fight me again?”
Paimon: “No… it’s not worth the effort. Since you defeated me, the Demon King has dismissed me from his service. Fighting you now would be pointless!”
Mirai: “Is that so? Then what are you planning on doing from now on?”
Paimon: “As much as it hurts my pride……”
Paimon: “I plan on joining you as an ally so the great Paimon may once again be on the winning team!!!”
Mirai can recruit Paimon.
When all the checkpoint stamps have been collected, Mirai is allowed access to Isis. Souta and Hresvelgr are encountered:
Veil: “Souta and Hresvelgr? What’s going on?”
Hresvelgr: “Devil Child Mirai; I am here to defeat you.”
Mirai: “What the hell? Why!?”
Hresvelgr: “You were in direct violation of the Demon King’s orders when you allowed the other Devil Child to escape. His protection over you has ended and now he has called for your execution. How appropriate that it will happen here, in the Land of the Dead. Now, Souta—let’s get her!”
Setsuna enters.
Setsuna: “Oh—hello Mirai. What brings you here? What’s going on?”
Souta: “Get out of the way, kid! I’m gonna throw this bitch into the Abyss!”
Setsuna: “Mirai! Look out!”
Setsuna blocks Mirai from the attack.
Hresvelgr: “Our battle begins, Devil Child!”
Mirai battle with Souta and Hresvelgr. When Mirai wins:
Hresvelgr: “Is this… truly her power…? Demon King, I…”
Souta and Hresvelgr disappear.
Mirai: “Are you okay? Didn’t he hurt you…?”
Setsuna: “I’m fine. It’s nothing serious.”
Setsuna: “Hey… have you seen Nagahisa anywhere in the Pyramid?”
Mirai: “You’re looking for him here? No, I haven’t seen him.”
Setsuna: “I’ll keep looking, then. Hmm… my wounds have already healed.”
Setsuna exits.
[ Sand Land – Pyramid; Isis Room ]
As Mirai arrives, Isis is speaking with a human boy.
Isis: “…you understand? That is why you’re not a Devil Child, but he is.”
Mirai: “Nagahisa!?”
Nagahisa: “…Mirai. You’re a Devil Child.”
Mirai: “Setsuna was just outside! He’ll be so happy to find you here!”
Nagahisa: “……”
Nagahisa exits.
Mirai: “What was that? His eyes were so cold…”
Isis: “Another little one is here. You must be the girl Devil Child, Mirai. Have you come to seek an audience with me?
Mirai: “Lord Isis …what was wrong with Nagahisa…?”
Isis: “I told him he is the brother of a Devil Child.”
Mirai: “…I don’t remember him ever looking so gloomy…”
Isis: “It seems the revelation regarding his brother was upsetting. Now, what can I help you with, Mirai?”
Mirai: “Well, my—“
Isis: “Oh! I’ve heard so much about the power of Devil Children; would you entertain my curiosity with a battle, first?”
Mirai battles Isis. When Mirai wins:
Isis: “How delightful! Well done, Mirai!”
Isis: “Ah, yes… what is it you wish to ask me?”
Mirai: “I’m searching Makai for my father. I’ve been told you’re very wise; I was hoping you would know where I could find him!”
Isis: “That is a question I cannot answer.”
Mirai: “……”
Mirai: “What should I do…? How can I find him?”
Isis: “You must continue your journey, as foretold by the ancient writings.”
Mirai: “What do you mean? There are stories about me?”
Isis: “There are stories of Devil Children, and prophecies still unfulfilled. There is one that fits your current journey through Makai.”
Isis: “…When the apocalypse draws near, two children born with blood of both human and devil will decide its fate. One child will gather the Horns. One child will gather the Eyes. In the Goddess Chamber, they hold the keys of fate, joined in their hands.”
Mirai: “…Horns and Eyes…”
Mirai: “The Demon King said the other Devil Child, Setsuna, was gathering Messiah Horns to destroy the world.”
Isis: “He said that…?”
Isis: “… so, Devil Child Mirai is gathering the Messiah Eyes, and Devil Child Setsuna is gathering the Messiah Horns…”
Mirai: “Yeah, but neither of us is collecting keys, so…”
Isis: “Ha ha ha! Oh, Mirai—let me show you!”
Isis: “See this Messiah Eye… and this matching Messiah Horn…”
The two items combine to make a key.
Isis: “Together, they create a Key of Norn! These are the Keys of Fate the legends speak of. But, you must gather all the Keys if you wish to change the fate of the world.”
Isis: “Good luck, Mirai!”
With the Pyramid completed, Mirai can return to Ghost Town.
[ Sand Land – Ghost Town ]
Mirai encounters Zett on the road to the Circle Gate.
Zett: “Hey, Mirai!”
Zett: “Isis didn’t know where your father is? Hmm. That’s—no, nevermind!”
Zett: “Here; take this Green Messiah Eye. Go to Forest Land. We’re almost at the end of all this, Mirai!”
Zett disappears.
Setsuna calls Mirai’s DeviPhone and transfers his Death Cerberus data to Mirai.
At the Circle Gate, Mirai uses the Green Messiah Eye and gets another dream sequence:

Demons and signage in this area convey the following information:
A “Ballroom Contest” is currently being held in Marble Land.
The Ballroom Contest is actually a coliseum battle; the winner becomes the new Lord of Marble Land (Note: this is a pun. “Ba’al”—which sounds like ‘ball’—in mythology, can be used as an honorific meaning ‘lord’ when connected to a demon’s name.).
The White Messiah Eye will also be given as a prize to the winner.
The leaders of three warring tribes—Deva, Rasetsu, Shura—will be competing against each other in the contest.
The Ballroom Contest will not begin until all three tribe leaders arrive at the coliseum.
Rumors say the Devil Children have been spotted in the coliseum.
When Mirai enters the room where the White Messiah’s Eye is displayed:
Mirai: “…the White Messiah’s Eye…”
Mirai: “I’ll need this if the Devil Child escapes me again; I guess I’ll just have to win the Ballroom Contest.”
???: “It’s quite a predicament you’ve gotten yourself into.”
Mirai: “Who are you!?”
Paimon: “Ah ha ha! Why… I am Paimon.”
Mirai: “…do you want something from me?”
Paimon: “Ah ha ha, Mirai! I heard you’re looking for your father. I am here on behalf of the Demons who would be… inconvenienced… if you were to find him. I’m afraid I’m going to have to throw you into the Abyss, dear.”
Veil: “Mirai! Look out!”
Veil shields Mirai from Paimon’s attack.
Paimon: “Pitiful weakling! Though, I admit your Gryphon’s courage is impressive. For that, I shall let you live today. But next time… I won’t be so kind.”
Paimon exits and Mirai tends to Veil.
Veil: “…I’ll be okay… I just need a little rest…”
Mirai exits the prize room and a Rasetsu speaks to them:
Rasetsu: “Gryphon! You can’t enter the competition in your condition! Perhaps the Rasetsu leader, Vibhishana, can heal your wounds? Take me with you as your ally so that you will be permitted entry into our town.”
The route to the Rasetsu town is now open.
[ Marble Land – Rasetsu Town ]
The Rasetsu demons will convey the following information:
The Rasetsu disapprove of the war between the Shura and Deva.
The Rasetsu plan to win the competition and rule Marble Land with wisdom and diplomacy.
Another Devil Child visited the town earlier.
The Rasetsu-Ou is looking for a Shura Blade to make him stronger.
In the Rasetsu leader’s house, Vibhishana is meeting with… another human girl?
Elegy: “I’m Elegy!”
Elegy: “So you’re Mirai, the Devil Child underling of the Demon King? Ha! You must be a complete and utter IDIOT to believe anything that bastard says.”
Elegy: “Why are you dragging around this trash Gryphon? Huh… those wounds look like Paimon’s work. Well, it’s a useless demon now. Just get rid of it!”
Elegy: “Why should I care about anyone? …especially an idiot like you…”
Elegy: “What kind of lame story did that so-called Demon King scrape together to convince you to hunt down another Devil Child? Did he pretend to be a kind and sympathetic man? Let me tell you, Mirai… he’s only nice as long as he has a use for you.”
Elegy: “That other Devil Child has entered the Ballroom Contest to win a Messiah Item. He’s chasing his brother and needs a Messiah Item to get to Sand Land. I guess you need to enter the competition to corner him.”
Elegy: “I’m out of here. See you later… if you’re not dead.”
Vibhishana: “Welcome, Devil Child Mirai. I am Vibhishana, leader of the Rasetsu. If the Shura or Deva win the competition, they will bring only brute strength to Marble Land. There is more to ruling than strength alone, and that is why I must become the Lord of Marble Land.”
Vibhishana: “You wish to obtain the White Messiah Eye? Then you must win the competition.”
Vibhishana: “If I should face you in battle in the Coliseum, I swear I shall fight honorably.”
The route to the Shura Town is now open. On the path to Shura Town is the Shura-Ou who lost his blade. If Mirai has the Shura Blade item, he will join Mirai’s party in gratitude.
[ Marble Land – Shura Town ]
The Shura demons will convey the following information:
The leader of the Shura is Vritra
The Shura clan has an old feud with the Deva clan
The Shura hope to win the competition so their war with the Deva will end
The Shura-Ou has lost his Shura Blade.
Vritra and Shura can perform a special combo attack (battle tip)
In the Shura leader’s house is Vritra:
Vritra: “I am Vritra; leader of the Shura! I shall be the one to defeat Indra of the Deva and become Lord of Marble Land!”
Vritra: “I won’t just hand over the White Messiah Eye if I win. You must enter the contest if you wish to obtain it.”
Vritra examines Veil:
Vritra: “This Gryphon is gravely wounded! She won’t survive in the Coliseum in this condition!”
Vritra: “Anyone worth the title of Lord of Marble Land knows that battling a wounded demon is dishonorable. Give this potion to your Gryphon, so she may join you in battle!”
Mirai gives the potion to Veil, restoring her to health:
Veil: “Yuck! That tasted terrible…”
Veil: “But—wow! I feel better than ever!”
Mirai: “Veil! I’m so happy you’re well again!”
Mirai: “Vritra… I can’t thank you enough for saving her!”
Vritra: “Behold the strength of the Shura! We welcome you, if you choose to be an ally.”
The route to the Deva Town is now open.
[ Marble Land – Deva Town ]
The Deva demons will convey the following information:
The leader of the Deva is Indra.
Deva believe fighting is the way of life.
Deva think Rasetsu are weak cowards.
A Deva-Ou wants to leave Marble Land to test his strength. This Deva-Ou found a Shura blade earlier.
A Deva parent is worried about their child who ran away to avoid the conflict in Marble Land (side-quest).
The laughing demon, Nitanita, is hanging around town. When you have the “Laughing Bag” item, Nitanita will join Mirai.
Mirai meets with the Deva leader:
Indra: “I am Indra, the leader of the Deva. I will defeat Vritra and become Lord of Marble Land! Come! Be our ally!”
Indra: “Well, Mirai, if you want the White Messiah Horn then you’re going to have to win the competition! Nothing is handed over freely; you must work hard to obtain the things you desire.”
Mirai can now enter the competition at the Coliseum.
[ Marble Land – Coliseum ]
In the waiting room, after Mirai registers for the Ballroom Contest:
Frost: “Hee-Ho! Mirai! I came here to cheer you on in the contest, Ho! Lord Hel has been humbled by your beating. Ice Land is a nice place to live again, Ho! In fact, Lord Hel wants to meet you; stop by when you have time, Hee-Ho!”
Shura: “The Ballroom Contest has begun! Speak to the receptionist demon when you’re ready to brawl!”
Mirai can now enter the Ballroom Competition by speaking with the demon at the registration desk. After each battle, Mirai can heal and restock items before returning for the next round.
First opponent is a regular Golem demon. Second round is Vibhishana.
Vibhishana: “Strength alone is not the key to victory. Come, Mirai!”
Mirai’s win:
Vibhishana: “Devil Child Mirai… your power has exceeded my wisdom.”
The third opponent is Vritra.
Vritra: “A proper blood sacrifice will ensure my victory over Indra. And there is none more fitting than you, Devil Child!”
Mirai’s win:
Vritra: “…my strength was not enough. Are the legends true?”
The Fourth opponent is Indra.
Indra: “The power of half-devils is feared, but I will see you fall before me!”
Mirai’s win:
Indra: “……”
And the final round’s opponent is…
Setsuna: “M-Mirai!? What are you doing here? Is it possible… that you are the other Devil Child?”
Mirai: “Setsuna!? Wait… you’re the Devil Child? The one trying to destroy the world!?”
Setsuna: “I’m not trying to do that! Mirai… are YOU the Devil child that has been hunting me? What… what’s going on?”
Mirai: “I think I’m as confused as you are! Let’s finish this competition, then we can talk this through.”
Mirai’s win:
Setsuna: “Tch! I lost…”
Setsuna: “Mirai… do you really believe I’m trying to destroy the world? Who told you that lie?”
Mirai: “The Demon King in Central Land told me that a Devil Child was tearing through Makai, gathering Messiah Horns so that he could destroy the worlds. He meant you!”
Setsuna: “He said that? No… I’m searching for my little brother. He was abducted from our home by the Demon King! I have to save him…”
Mirai: “Nagahisa—!? Nagahisa was kidnapped by that man!?”
Mirai: “…that girl also said he was a liar…”
Mirai: “What is the truth…?”
Setsuna: “I first arrived in Central Land and tried to meet the Demon King. He imprisoned me in the Ice Land jail without explanation…”
Setsuna: “A Frost named Diana told me we were all going to be thrown into the Abyss. We managed to break out and I’ve been pursued by a Devil Child since then. I guess that was you. But why are you in Makai?”
Mirai: “My father… I was told I could find my missing father somewhere in Makai!”
Mirai: “The Demon King wouldn’t give me permission to leave Central Land and search for him unless I agreed to capture the Devil Child who is trying to destroy the world.”
Mirai: “I thought I was helping him save the world…”
Setsuna: “Mirai… I understand what it’s like to be missing your father.”
Setsuna: “Regardless, I’m continuing on to Sand Land to search for Nagahisa. I was told some Angels appeared there to rescue him. Maybe they can help bring Nagahisa home.”
Setsuna: “I hope you find your father, and… it’s nice to see a familiar face in Makai. You have a DeviPhone, right? Let’s keep in touch.”
Setsuna exits. Mirai is declared to be the new Lord of Marble Land and presented with the White Messiah Horn. The three clan leaders enter.
Mirai: “…I’m… Lord of Marble Land…?”
Mirai: “Well, I just entered to get the White Messiah Eye so I can search for my father; I have no interest in being the Demon Lord! One of you three can have the title instead!”
Vibhishana: “Lord Mirai, you rightfully won your title.”
Vritra: “The competition proved you to be the one worthy of ruling Marble Land.”
Indra: “You have already been declared the Lord of Marble Land!”
Mirai: “Well, I suppose that’s true, but… I’m not interested in this position, and certainly not the responsibility that comes with it! Hmm… I’ll declare someone else as Lord of Marble Land, but you all need to promise to work together! Stop this childish feuding!”
Mirai can choose one of the leaders to replace her as Lord of Marble Land, and one to take with her as an ally. The leader Mirai chose as a replacement will speak to her:
Demon Lord: “Lord Mirai… I overheard you speaking about your missing father. Lord Isis of Sand Land is the wisest of all the Demon Lords. If you can speak with her, she may be able to help you find him.”
Golem: “The Ballroom Contest is complete!”
Veil’s Rank increases to “Death Gryphon”.
The demons in town are all pleased that the new Lord has agreed to peace across Marble Land and the clan fighting has ceased. The Deva-Ou asks to join Mirai; if Mirai agrees, the Deva gives her a Shura Blade he found. Mirai can now talk to the Shura-Ou to return the Blade, and the Shura-Ou will join her as well. The Rasetsu-Ou will want to join Mirai if the other two have been recruited.
[ Marble Land – Circle Gate ]
Paimon is waiting for Mirai on the way to the Circle Gate.
Paimon: “Haha! I still won’t let you go to Sand Land, Mirai!”
Mirai battles Paimon. Mirai wins:
Paimon: “…I was defeated… I was defeated!?”
Paimon: “Are the Devil Children truly powerful enough to change fate itself…?”
Paimon exits.
Mirai uses the Golden Messiah’s Eye at the Circle Gate:
Mirai: “Messiah’s Eye! Reveal the conduit!”

This is a (mostly-complete) translation of the story portions of the game as well as a summary of story-related text in chronological order. Names and dialogue have been edited for easier reading. Scene locations are labeled using square brackets. I will be using default names for characters who can be renamed.
Part 1 - Earth and Central Land:
[ Dream ]

Mirai: “Are you… my father?”
Mirai: “No! Don’t leave!”
Mirai: “Father!!!”
A bell chimes and Mirai wakes up.
[ Earth – Harajuku Elementary School ]
Teacher: “Alright kids! It’s time to go home!”
The teacher exits the room and a classmate approaches Mirai.
Student: “You’re awake now? You’ve been asleep in class since the afternoon break. I hope you’re not getting sick! Please take care of yourself.”
Student: “Oh—while you were asleep, the teacher said there was a strange kid spotted wandering around the school. We’ve been told to be alert.”
Mirai can walk around the classroom and speak with the students. Mirai needs to collect her bag before she can leave the classroom.
Girl 1: “I’ve been practicing nail art! ♥ Would you like a red manicure?”
Girl 2: “Let’s walk home together! ♥”
Girl 3: “Did you see the news? The weather is strange all over the world!”
Boy: “Don’t forget your schoolbag!”
If Mirai looks into the mirror, a pentagram flashes onto her forehead.
Mirai: “!? A mark on my forehead…? …am I imagining things?”
When Mirai goes to leave the classroom:
Girl 2: “Eeek! I forgot I have an appointment!!! I need to run! Sorry, sorry!”
In the hallway, a boy collides with Mirai:
Boy: “Owch! Watch it!”
Mirai: “S-sorry! Are you okay?”
Boy: “Uh… y-yeah… ♥ Heh… ♥”
Mirai: “Huh? What’s up with you?”
Boy: “Oh—uh! Well… you’re just… I just think you’re really cute…”
Mirai: “♥♥♥♥♥♥”
Yuuki: “I’m Yuuki. What’s your name?”
Mirai: “It’s Mirai.”
Yuuki: “Mirai? …so, it’s you…”
Mirai: “Huh? What do you mean?”
Yuuki: “Um… nothing. Nevermind.”
Yuuki: “Oh, actually… I have a delivery for you. It’s important, so keep it close.”
Yuuki gives Mirai a red box before looking nervously down the hall.
Yuuki: “Damn it…”
Yuuki: “I’ll see you later, Mirai!”
Yuuki runs away and strange boy approaches.
Strange Boy: “I thought he went this way…? Hey, you! Did you see a boy carrying a red parcel?”
Strange Boy: “Ah! That’s it! That’s the box Yuuki had!”
Mirai: “Yeah. So what?”
Strange Boy: “Give me the box!”
Whether or not Mirai complies, the stranger tries to snatch it away from her.
Strange Boy: “I’m taking this!”
The screen flashes red.
Strange Boy: “Augh! No! That light is—don’t open that box!”
Mirai: “I do what I want.”
Mirai: “Let’s see; inside there is… a gun? And a compact computer?”
Strange Boy: “That revolver…is a Devil Raiser!?”
Strange Boy: “Heh… if that was in the box, then you must be the bearer of the Iridescent Eye! Hand it over!”
The boy lunges at Mirai.
Mirai: “PERVERT! STOP TRYING TO GRAB MY CHEST! I WILL WRECK YOUR SHIT!!!”
Strange Boy: “Qu-quiet down! Just give me the Devil Raiser and the Eye and I’ll leave!”
Mirai: “NO! LET GO OF ME!”
Mirai: “AH!”
Strange Boy: “Aha! Your pendant…!”
The boy grabs Mirai’s necklace.
Mirai: “That’s my necklace! Give it back!”
Strange Boy: “Ohoho! This is it! The Messiah’s Eye was hidden in plain sight!”
Mirai: “I SAID GIVE IT BACK!!!”
Mirai: “Mirai Secret Skill: TWISTER HURRICANE!!!”
Mirai high-kicks the stranger into next Tuesday.
Strange Boy: “Uagh! I—I… got it!”
The stranger runs away to escape Mirai’s wrath.
Mirai: “Aaah! That bastard stole my necklace! My mom gave me that necklace before she died…!”
Mirai can investigate the school and speak with the nearby students.
Girl: “Oooh! Mirai! You’re the coolest, strongest kid at school!”
Boy: “It’s way below freezing outside, but my burning love for you keeps me warm! ♥”
Mirai: “I can’t tell what makes me want to punch you harder; your pickup lines or your face.”
Boy: “Ugh! The shards of the Ice Queen cut through my soul! But I won’t give up on you! ♥”
Mirai: “Please do. Please give up.”
Mirai continues through the school until she finds Yuuki standing on the roof. The sky flashes unnatural colors.
Mirai: “…the sky…”
Yuuki: “Mirai! Sorry I had to run earlier. I’m glad you found me; I need to tell you about the contents of the parcel I delivered.”
Yuuki: “That magic gun is called a Devil Raiser; it’s going to be very useful for you, starting now.”
Mirai: “A magical revolver? Seriously!?”
Mirai: “Exactly what about it is magical?”
The strange boy who attacked Mirai reappears.
Strange Boy: “Well, well; this is lucky! I found both Mirai and Yuuki.”
Mirai: “Ah! It’s that guy from earlier! This jerk stole my mother’s necklace!”
Souta: “Souta is no mere human! If you value your life, surrender the Devil Raiser!”
Mirai: “…didn’t I kick your sorry ass a few minutes ago?”
Souta: “D-damn it! You caught me off guard last time! Now behold my true power!”
Souta transforms into the Demon Ratatoskr.
Mirai: “…! What the—a giant squirrel!?”
Souta: “How dare you call me a squirrel! Have a taste of my wind magic! Zen!”
Yuuki: “Mirai! Look out!”
Yuuki uses himself to block Mirai from the attack and instantly turns into a ghost.
Yuuki: “Gah…! Mirai! Be careful… Fire the Devil Raiser and shout ‘Call’ to summon your ally!”
Yuuki: “After this battle… I hid something important in the classroom next to yours!”
Souta: “Stop interfering! Go back to hell!”
Yuuki’s ghost floats away into the sky.
Souta: “The next attack will hit YOU, Mirai!”
Mirai: “Ah!? What should I do!? The Devil Raiser… Yuuki said I could use it to ‘Call’ an ally! It’s worth a shot!”
Mirai pulls the trigger of the Devil Raiser.
Mirai: “CAAAAALLL!!!”
VineCom: “CALL Confirmation… #247 Gryphon.”
Veil: “Bound by my ancient pact… this Gryphon heeds your call! And I thank you for releasing me from my seal. ♥”
Mirai: “A bird came out of the gun! And the birdie can talk! But is it magic or just a fancy talking toy?”
Veil: “Hmph! Humans can be so rude! I’m no toy, nor am I a mere bird! I am Veil—a Gryphon! From now on, I am your Demon Partner!”
Veil: “Oho! If it isn’t Souta of the Ratatoskr! You troublesome squirrel! I was hoping to never see you again.”
Souta: “Right back at you! And weren’t you supposed to be sealed away!? I’ll make you wish you still were!”
Veil: “Bring it, squirrel boy!”
Battle versus Ratatoskr. When Mirai wins:
Souta: “Damn it! How could a human summon a Demon without first making a contract? That’s impossible! Or, is it because she’s—”
Mirai: “Give me back my pendant!”
Souta: “Damn…I can’t win! Here’s your necklace.”
Mirai receives the pendant.
Souta: “This isn’t the end! I’ll get you back for this, Veil!”
Souta leaves, and a boy with green hair appears from the stairs.
Zett: “Mirai? I’m Takazyo Zett! Nice to meet you!”
Zett: “Ratatoskr was trying to steal your late mother’s necklace, huh?”
Mirai: “…???... you know about my mother?”
Zett: “Yup. I also know your father.”
Mirai: “Ah!? Do you know where I can find him?”
Zett: “Yeah. He lives in Makai. Though I’m not sure where he is, exactly…”
Mirai: “Makai? So if I go there, I can meet my father?”
Mirai: “Do you know how to get there? I want to find him!”
Zett: “Sure thing! That pendant your mother gave you is a magic item called a Messiah’s Eye. If you want, I can show you how to use it, and then you can search Makai for your father.”
Mirai has the option to go right away or hesitate. If she remains, she can search the classroom Yuuki mentioned and receive a stash of curative items before returning to Zett. When Mirai agrees to go to Makai:
Zett: “Okay! Let’s send you to Makai to find your papa!”
Zett: “…… Oh. By the way… the two brothers who live in the apartment next door to you—Setsuna and Nagahisa—have been missing since yesterday. Did you hear about that?”
Mirai: “I know those two! …come to think of it, yesterday…
Flashback; Mirai and Setsuna are in their apartment hallway:
Mirai: “Oh, hello Setsuna. …is something wrong?”
Setsuna: “Mirai, have you seen Nagahisa?”
Mirai: “No. Did something happen?”
Setsuna: “He was abduc—ouch! Uh! Nothing!”
Mirai: “O…kay… Well, be careful if you go outside; it’s snowing and really cold.”
Return to the present:
Mirai: “…and that’s the last time I saw either of them. Do you know where they are?”
Zett: “They’re in Makai, too! The Demons captured them!”
Mirai: “What!? Geez, I hope they’re okay…”
Zett: “Anyhoo! It’s time to send you along to Makai!”
Zett: “All you have to do is hold the Messiah’s Eye up like this and say…”
Zett: “Messiah’s Eye! Reveal the conduit!”
Mirai: “Wha—!? Eeeeek!”
[ Dream ]
???: “Gather… … my… is … this… must… awaken…!”
[ Central Land – Central Town ]
Mirai awakens in the hotel in Central Town. Veil, Zett and ghost Yuuki are also in the hotel.
Zett: “Awake now? We’re in Makai now! Your father is here somewhere.”
Mirai: “Where should I begin?”
Zett: “Go to the Dark Palace north of this town, and meet with the Demon King. The rumor of your arrival has caused quite a stir, and I think you should pay him a visit.”
Mirai: “What do you mean?”
Zett: “Oh, you know—just a regular human child on an adventure through Makai to find her father? It’s exciting news!”
Mirai: “I haven’t even begun! How do I even know I can do this?”
Zett: “Well, it begins now! It will be difficult, there are dangerous Demons who will attack you. But you will find your way and learn the truth. I know you will.”
Mirai: “If it means I’ll find my father… I’ll do it!”
Zett: “I believe in you! I’ll stop by to help out whenever I can, yeah?”
Zett: “I’ve already stayed as long as I can, but I’ll definitely see you again soon. Bye!”
Zett disappears. Mirai can talk to Yuuki.
Yuuki: “Do you recognize me? It’s Yuuki!”
Yuuki: “I’m sorry if I startled you earlier… I wasn’t killed back on the school roof; I was a ghost before we met.”
Mirai: “Just my luck… I find a cute boy I actually like, and it turns out he’s dead…”
Yuuki: “I’m sorry… I was asked me to deliver the box to you. I didn’t expect things between us to turn out like that…”
Yuuki: “Oh! I was also supposed to explain the items and other things. Would you like me to do that for you?”
Mirai has the option to listen to the explanation or pass. If she chooses to listen:
Yuuki: “The compact computer is called a ‘VineCom’ and you can use it to transfer six allied Demons into your Devil Raiser gun, or arrange the order of your Demons. You use the gun to ‘Call’ your allies in battle.”
Yuuki: “We are in a land in Makai called ‘Central Land’. This is where the Dark Palace of the Demon King is located. There are other lands in Makai; you will see them as you travel.”
Yuuki: “North of the hotel is a Fusion Lab, where you can alter your Demons. You can form pacts with the Demons you encounter in Makai, and they can be fused at the Lab to become stronger! It doesn’t hurt, and Demons think it’s fun, so don’t be afraid to fuse new allies!”
Outside the hotel, the Demon NPCs will offer general newbie gameplay tips, and mention that anyone who opposes the Demon King will be thrown into The Abyss.
[ Central Land – Dark Palace ]
As Mirai approaches the Dark Palace, the Demon guards take notice.
Demon: “You have a Devil Raiser and Messiah’s Eye! That means you’re—a Devil Child!”
Mirai: “What did he call me!? I’m not THAT delinquent… geez!”
Demon: “Please enter the Palace; the Demon King has been waiting for you.”
Mirai enters the throne room and meets the Demon King.
Demon King: “Devil Child Mirai… welcome to the Dark Palace.”
Mirai: “What exactly do you mean by ‘Devil Child’?”
Demon King: “The mixed-blood offspring that results from the union between a human and a demon… these half-demons are called Devil Children. Mirai; your mother was human and your father is a demon.”
Mirai: “Huh? You know him? Where is he!?”
Demon King: “Ah, well… his whereabouts are… unknown.”
Mirai: “My father was a demon…”
Demon King: “…how has it come to pass, for Devil Children to appear in Makai…?”
Mirai: “Please… I came here to find my father. Can you help me?”
Demon King: “……”
Demon King: “The world of Devils and Humans have always been separated, and for good reason. I cannot allow someone of mixed blood to roam Makai! I forbid you from leaving the Palace!”
Mirai: “Oh. Then can you find my father for me, and bring him here? I want to meet him, that’s all.”
Demon King: “……”
Demon King: “…… dear child… your pure heart has swayed me. If you accept an official mission from the Demon King, you can travel freely within Makai. With this loophole, I can help you on your search for your father.”
Mirai: “What kind of mission are we talking about?”
Demon King: “First, you must understand… Our worlds have been divided for so long that the Demons of Makai has only heard stories of Devil Children. The legends say they can summon Demons instantly, using the Devil Raisers. Their aura amplifies their summoned Demons and they possess incomprehensible powerful. I’m sure you can understand the chaos that would erupt if I, the Demon King, allowed Devil Children to freely roam Makai. It’s very dangerous.”
Demon King: “The Demons who look to their King for protection are scared, Mirai. Another Devil Child who appeared in Makai earlier is reeking havoc and endangering my citizens.”
Mirai: “Another Devil Child…? Like me?”
Demon King: “He is not like you, my dear girl. He is a wicked creature!”
Demon King: “The boy is tearing through Makai, seeking to gather the six Messiah Horns. If he succeeds… it will mean death for all of us.”
Mirai: “How is that possible?”
Demon King: “In the hands of a normal Human or Demon, the Horns are benign. But in the hands of a Devil Child… their power can cause the Horns to seal the fate of all worlds. This Devil Child wishes to destroy both Earth and Makai!”
Demon King: “I captured him once, but he broke out of the Ice Jail he was being held in. As we speak, he continues on his vile quest. Please, Mirai… you must defeat him and save our worlds!”
Mirai: “But how can I possibly do anything to stop him?”
Demon King: “Dear Mirai… you are also a Devil Child. In all of Makai, only you have the power to match his. If you choose to accept this mission, you will have the full support of the Demon King and the freedom to search Makai for your father.”
Mirai: “I understand… to find my father and save the world… I accept your mission!”
Demon King: “I cannot thank you enough, dear Mirai! Please take these Demons to aid you on your journey; speak to them to form your contracts.”
Four Demons are present in the room; Mirai can choose to add Nekhbet, Nisroc, Mizuchi, and Vetala as her allies. Mirai speaks to the Demon King to continue:
Demon King: “Take this first; it will help you on your journey.”
Mirai receives 5,000 Makka from the Demon King.
Demon King: “Take this Blue Messiah’s Eye; it will transport you to Ice Land, the place where the Devil Child is currently hiding. Since the Iridescent Messiah’s Eye is also a precious memento of your mother, I will safeguard it here in the Dark Palace. When you have defeated the Devil Child, I shall return it to you.”
Demon King: “Now… Messiah’s Eye! Reveal the conduit!”
Mirai: “Ah! Not this again!?”

???: “Gather… … Keys, my… this world… We must… and awaken… …then… the…”
