“Is there something on my face?” he asks without looking up or even slowing down on his typing. I tap my pen on the table and shake my head, willing him to look up at me.
Because I feel it again. That gnawing hunger he awakens in me. Impossible to permanently sate. I’m lucky that I found something that at least momentarily quiets it, but that’s all it ever is. Temporary. Eventually, it always returns, and Peeta isn’t helping me right now. Usually all it takes is a look from me and he gives me exactly what I need.
“No,” I say when he doesn’t look up.
“Hmmm.”
I slam my palm on the table and finally, he looks up, his fingers frozen mid typing, and his eyebrows creeping up his forehead.
“Something wrong then?”
