Mung Bean Pastry / 綠豆糕 & 桂花糕
pastry made with rice flour ( Brown is the original flavor, made with mung bean powder. White is made with hibiscus jam.)
vegan / NT.275 pack of 25 = US$ 0.40 for one
My coworker has a friend who lives nearby a shop in Danshui that is famous for these pastry. She brings them when she visits my coworker.
The brown ones are my favorite when I was small. The first time I ate it, it was an offering for Confucius Day, I was in pre-school. My family don't typically eat this, and I was in awe how tasty they were.
When they are fresh they are soft and springy, leave them alone for an hour or so and they become hard and dry. So eat them ASAP!
I've never bought them because they are typically eaten for certain festivals.
