though sailor wasn’t quite sure how she felt about being back in provincetown yet, still working through all the different things that the change in scenery had her thinking and feeling, it was impossible to deny that she had missed THIS — being able to walk out her back door and find some peace by the water. everything was quiet here. safer. even when she heard the sound of someone approaching her, there was no panic that rose up in her chest. “hi,” she called out, voice soft. she didn’t turn to see who it was, not at first. instead she bent down to pick up a small, smooth stone that sat near where her toes were digging into the sand, rubbing her thumb over the surface of it for a few moments before she sent it sailing away from her. it skipped once, twice, three times before it disappeared beneath the surface of the water. “hm. guess i haven’t lost my touch quite yet. good to see that some things really DON’T change.”
✗ 𝔫𝔬𝔱 𝔞 𝔠𝔩𝔬𝔲𝔡 𝔥𝔲𝔫𝔤 in the sky as provincetown’s fire crew set up their semi - annual car wash and rafael couldn’t be more grateful . it was his first time participating in the event and he’d been practically GIDDY in the days leading up to it , excited to do his part to help raise money for charity . he was just filling one of the last buckets with soap and water when he heard his chief call out , “ OY ! our first customers are lining up ! ” straightening up from his stoop with a grin , rj turned around and adjusted the suspenders of his pants — which happened to be the ONLY part of his uniform was wearing . his eyes surveyed the cars already pulling into the large parking lot of the fire hall and a laugh shook his bare shoulders when he spotted a familiar face in the driver’s seat of one of the nearest cars . the male sauntered over to the vehicle before leaning down to look into the window with a smirk . “ what a pleasure to see you here , ” he teased with a laugh , tucking a curly lock behind his ear .

the sound of waves crashing on the beach was ( and probably always would be ) one of becks absolute favorite sounds. everything in provincetown was so much more calmer than the sounds of new york and within the past year he realized it’s what he preferred. most of his time on the beach was simply spent jotting down random things that he thought of into one of his notebooks. every now and then though, he took it upon himself to be a little more adventurous. “do you think surfing is really hard or just like kind of hard?” he questioned the person next to him, eyeing up the rented surfboard in the sand in front of him. he could just back out of it now. “probably only a small chance of something really bad happening, right?”
