Hawaiians love to snack on Spam Masubi, which is made by mixing spam, rice, and nori. It's salty, a little sweet, and very addicting. Great for a quick lunch or snack on the go!
Ingredients: 1 can spam. 2 cups sushi rice. 4 sheets nori seaweed. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 1/4 cup mirin. 2 tablespoons sugar. 1 teaspoon sesame oil. Furikake optional.
Instructions: Cut the spam into eight equal pieces. Fry the spam in a pan until each side is just a little crispy. Put soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sesame oil in a small saucepan. To make the sauce, heat until the sugar melts. Put a nori sheet on a clean surface. Add a slice of spam. Cover the spam with a layer of sushi rice and gently press it down to stick. You can add furikake on top if you want to. Put the spam and rice inside the nori and roll it up tight. Seal the edge with a little water. Do it again with the rest of the ingredients. Cut the rolls into small pieces and serve them with extra sauce to dip them in.
