My Thoughts On...#15 - The “SpongeBob SquarePants” episode “Treats!” 📺 🧽 🏝️ 🍍🐌🍪
A huge majority of you are obviously familiar with the popular Nickelodeon animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, and a lot of you may be familiar with the season 8 episode “Treats!” where SpongeBob buys Gary treats called Snail Bites and Gary ends up loving Snail Bites so much that he wants more of them even when they’re sold out and instantly discontinued. Well, I’d like to share with you how ridiculous this episode is. In the beginning of the episode where SpongeBob sees the commercial for Snail Bites, you’d notice that the snails in that commercial are excited AF for the treats they’re currently advertising, also at the end, the people in the commercial are like “Your snail will go nuts for Snail Bites, and so will you!”. So, SpongeBob, despite not exactly being the sharpest knife in the block, should’ve realized what would be in store for him should he have purchased those Snail Bites for Gary. Later in the episode where SpongeBob and Gary are at the pet store, and the floor manager informs them that they’ve sold out of Snail Bites, Gary ends up letting out a long and loud meow, which is kind of dramatic, wouldn’t you agree? Then later, when SpongeBob and Gary go to the Snail Bites factory, only to find that they’ve gone out of business, the factory worker misspells the word “closed”. But here’s the thing, they’ve pointed this out as a goof on either iMDb or the SpongeBob SquarePants Wiki page even though it’s obvious that the Snail Bites factory employee spelled “closed” incorrectly. I mean, it had to have been in the script, right? Also, in the scene where SpongeBob and Gary are flying all over the world in that blimp in search of more Snail Bites, SpongeBob is calling down to the pet store owners overseas via megaphone. However, when the pet store owners reply to SpongeBob, he can somehow hear them from all the way up in the air (or water). Then when SpongeBob, who is all weary and has grown a gray beard, tells Gary that they’ve checked every pet store on the map that he’s holding and none of them have Snail Bites, the way he explains it while also wearing this magenta beanie seems like a reference to some sea quest movie. I don’t think it’s from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, I know it’s not from Jaws, highly doubtful it’s from Treasure Island. I just don’t know. Finally, when Patrick is giving SpongeBob advice on how to put an end to Gary’s meowing for the now non-existent Snail Bites, he’s like “Sometimes you have to no when to say “know”. Oh, oh. wait, wait, wait, wait, it’s the other way around. Um, you’ve got to know when to say “no”.” Just how do you get 2 same-sounding words mixed up? I call big time LOGIC FAIL! Well, those are my thoughts on the SpongeBob SquarePants episode “Treats!”. I sure hope you find this post worth reading and be sure to give this post a like and/or re-blog. If you’re interested, of course.
