does Spooky Jim have a Jim? you should give the dog a dog..

really really happy to tell you that ive been referring to his dog as big jim (more about him at the bottom of this post!)

big jim i love him so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they also share a name! :D

longggg story short , spooky + big jim both use the topmost name, names in spookys native language are based off of markings & markings are genetically inherited . big jim is spookys BABY he SIRED that doggy from his own EGGS !!!

spookys had jim since he was a little jim :) as a pup, little jim has black fur that helps him blend in better with the mud , i think ... or even that he would have a parent (spooky) that intentionally covers him in mud to camouflage his puppy smell when out to hunt... aww awww cutes...

heres a very rough size comparison btwn big jim and what his alien dog species equivalent of an alien wolf undomesticated cousin... i didnt get very far but i thought it was a fun experiment :D

he um. didnt bring jim with him to earth . too big for his saucer . probably for the better! big jim mostly lives in big bodies of water & he would get hit with earth hypoxemia harder than spooky . but he misses his dog and has no way home :(

big jim is okay at home <3 hes got people taking care of him while spookys gone

if they ever reunite u will never pry them apart thou <3

the size of dogs at home does mean . spookys perspective on dog sizes is very skewed though

Head in hands. Why does spooky eat his eggs, why is he a freak

while eating eggs is actually the norm for spookys culture , spooky is still a freak for laying his eggs in/on/under furniture and also just horking them down raw and still covered in mucus .

are spookys eyes green or black it’s still a mystery to me

he has very large, dark irises like a dog and the "whites" of his eyes (scalera) are green :D his whole eye looks black unless hes hitting the bombastic side eye, which flashes the green part of his eyeball !

his large iris allows for his pupils to dilate farther, and he can see better in low lighting than a human! :)

(dont worry about why his pupils are glowing, he has a reflective tissue in his eyes called a "tapetum lucidum" , found in usually nocturnal animals . its why cats eyes glow in the dark! ^_^)

does spooky's...hairstuff (idk what it is 💔) change color based on emotion or just whatever?

its skin and bones ^_^ unpleasant ... it changes mostly based off emotion, but he can change it to black on purpose :D

its based loosely off of ray finned fish dorsal fins!

trying to figure out spookys skin markings again...i did add shorts afterwards because i dont really want to surprise anyone with bare booty . but he wears his shorts scarily low because his tail is in the way so whats the POINT anyways LOL

his markings are bilaterally symmetrical, so his right arms markings look the same as his left ^_^ i know josh dun IRL gets his sleeve tattoo quite the while after the approximate time frame of this blog but it looks weird to draw him without it :P

his face markings are mostly based off a bearded vulture, his leg + arm markings mostly follow the curvature of muscles (excluding the bands on his wrist because of the matching sweatband josh dun + tyler joseph wore during blurryface, and the bands on his thigh where josh duns "tyler" tattoo is/yellow torchbearer tape is), the ones on his torso follow his bones (ribs, hipbones, shoulder blades) . there is no significance to any of this im just trying to make something that looks cool ^_^

so . if spooky can't, speak, how do they communicate? is it mostly vibes based.

hehe this one gets long :D but i think it starts out vibes based + asking a lot of yes/no questions but spooky and blurry end up trying to learn ASL together! ...spooky ends up still getting anxious about talking to people besides blurry and tyler . and it makes signing hard anyways .

there was also a joke about spooky having those buttons that would play a word/phrase when hit at some point . not exactly a tablet but !

...formatting an AAC tablet is going well . i guess .

tangentially related , i havent settled on a means that i am happiest with for how spooky would talk with other aliens ^_^"

im very heavily leaning towards pheromones, ant style . so theyd give out distinct chemical signals to communicate ideas . though i guess it would be useless in more complex communication . but thats the function of spooks antenna!

i was also considering that their language instead involving vibrating their teeth (leaning towards it being their esophageal teeth) together to create a trumpet-like humming . this would probably end up being quite quiet . ^_^

i have also been considering a very circular writing system with origins in a person standing with a large stick and carving into the dirt below them (as pictured above) though it became written in much smaller space over time... i think that itd be read from inwards -> outwards + by running your hands or feet over the engraving, rather than visually ... im not really much one for conlangs though ^_^

poking around in my files #myFiles to see if i have any spookies of note . and by my files i mean i have 5976x5224px canvas (stupid large) that i draw everything on . sometimes i genuinely have to search for a doodle LOL . file organization is my passion .

i did recently come to the realization that i kind of like the general trend of the society spooky is from greatly valuing metalwork as an art . :3 ! the chains generally prohibit . jaw movement . so look out ! you can kind of tell if its worn for alt culture reasons because the chains have more slack . this is scary to look at . but whatever . my nothing world building :3
