Biggest whipper.
So on snake dike, the 5.7R climb up half dome, I took the biggest whipper of my life. I was leading the second pitch, and if you don't know, snake dike has some of the poorest protection ever, and I got a bit of route aiming for the wrong dike. I got about 30 feet past my last bolt, the only one on the pitch, and I started feeling a bit shaky. I told myself, it's just 5.7 friction, trust your feet, and then my foot popped. I didn't know what else to do other than slide and hope for the best. I slid on my right hand until I popped over the roof and then turned over onto my butt and then slid down even further until the rope under my leg flipped me. I smacked my head and my large Nalgein bottle went rocketing down the face. My hat was two feet to the left of me and I grabbed it and got back up to the anchors with Aleck. I was pissed cuz I fell and also really scared of the close to 50 foot whipper I had just taken. It was embarrassing and frustrating until I realized I was on 5.10 slab and when I went back to the pitch I stayed right and easily climbed up to the anchors. So lesson learned; be resilient and read the topo. Thanks for reading about my life.
