» My writing style is pretty conversational I think! I guess you can say that instead of prose, I focus on making it feel like the narrator is talking to you, or that you're hearing their exact though process. That said, I'd like to challenge myself by writing something with a more "traditional" style of narration one day.

🌈: is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?

» Some of the letters in letters take me a REALLY long time to get going on. The pairs were completely randomized, and while I get to choose the order they go in, a lot of the pairs were ones where I didn't know what to use as main topic. Some that come to mind are the most recent letter to Masumi, the letter to Itaru, and the letter to Hisoka. The payoff is pretty mixed too since imo the letter to Kumon's is one of the best in the whole thing while the letter to Itaru is probably my least favorite lol. I'm currently writing the letter to Misumi, and it's another letter that's giving me issues :pensive:

Looks like they’re finally catching on to people wanting individualized events! But now we get to see how well they pull it off!

I wanted to hold off on answering this until I saw how it was being handled (and WOW did I miss these boys I forgot how enjoyable some of the stories can be even if they're mostly fluff, I really need to catch up) and well...

Satan is definitely the main character of this event!! I know I missed a fair amount of events, but I think you're right and they haven't done something like this since the Ruri-chan event?? A really nice change of pace to have one person be like the lead. Lucifer's also basically absent from the main topic, so they also avoided it being just about them competing.

Only thing is, I've read the entire free route (want to read the locked story all together once I've unlocked it all), and... you don't really spend any one on one time with Satan at all in the free route. Not to say that the locked route is particularly HARD to get, but if there ISN'T solo time up there once I get to it, that's something they'll have to consider improving.

Also, Lil Noodle has said that this event seems easier to stay up in the rankings for than previous events. I wonder if it's because people who aren't wild about Satan are opting to sit it out?

Yeah considering the pint-sized challenge is always locked behind a paywall to an extent I'm glad I was lucky enough to get the right card to show up early on ^^;

Harvest Moon for the gameboy came with the incredibly intuitive and not ridiculous at all (/s) feature of "if you name your character starting with a capital letter you will never be able to grow broccoli. ever."

Naming your character with a capital letter first (i.e. Noodle) let you grow eggplants and carrots in fall and winter respectively, while starting with a lowercase letter (noodle) let you grow peanuts and broccoli. If you want access to all four you have to name your character starting with a symbol (like ♥Noodle)

Spring and summer don't have this limitation. Why did they do this. If you play as a girl they just give you free stuff in the beginning with no explanation. Every hurricane is named Bob. Why is the game like this

Hot Take: There should’ve been a larger importance on the making of a pact.

I know it’s in the very beginning and all, but what do I mean by that? Easy - MC should’ve had an actual reaction to finding out what the pact was and does.

The pact is something we, as the MC, are encouraged to do from the start. This isn’t really explained too much and it’s taken in stride. HOWEVER - after the first use of MC establishing a pact (in day TWO) with Mammon, and being informed of what it does, why didn’t MC have the choice to react in a way akin to “How do I reverse this?”

The MC could still keep the pact as Levi assures them that “no, mammon deserves this and it probably won’t hurt him to feel a little fear.” Later, it could be brought back up with Mammon (as they’ve been shown to do with the TSL quiz) and then he could deny wanting to disband the pact (as MC is unfamiliar with magic and can’t do it themselves + now Mammon is attached and doesn’t want to get rid of their bond).

This already adds more depth to pact forming, and gives weight to the decision of making one in the first place since MC is made aware of its potential consequences. Plus! It can be brought up again with Solomon! Who can teach you how to and give you agency and the choice to retain these after your need for them is fulfilled (if you agree to help Belphegor).

Hesitancy is something forced upon the MC, but there should be a /choice/ in it, a choice to make it a cautionary hesitancy rather than just because MC doesn’t know what’s going on. Even if it’s ends up being forced that we end up in pacts with all of them for one reason or another (out of necessity or not) I feel like their should be a cloud of thought hovering over the MC as they’re forced to understand the weight of these actions.

So tldr: Either way, if we’re gonna make choices that don’t matter it might as well have meaning.

Like, very shortly after they explain it and you make one they instantly start treating it as kind of a joke?  A basis for humor?  Threatening to make Mammon “sit” becomes like a running gag, and the pacts kind of take a back seat plot point-wise even tho they’re literally the main focus of the plot.  I kind of understand what Lucifer meant when he complained about being “another name to check off your list,” because the way the game makes MC treat pacts it kind of feels like that’s actually the case.

So I think you’re right: the sheer power behind pacts IS discussed a little more in season 2, but they gloss over it way too much when the pacts are actually being made.  We should have had an option to not be 100% on board with it.  Some of them make pacts for horrible reasons, but it’s really serious?  And it ties you forever, so MC just.  Goes with it?  I get that Belphie’s imprisonment gave us a solid reason for doing it, but we should still be able to choose whether we accepted that reason.  Not just why we accepted it.

So yeah, even if they didn’t give us a real say in the end, it would have been nice for that to be something we can pretend to have a say in, lol.

Also, I think you've articulated really well something that we've been kind of lamenting over in a roundabout way. Because. That's it: none of your choices matter in Obey Me. You have three times where your choice affects the story that I know of. Who you go for help for in the TSL quiz, what sort of play you do, and who you go to the dance with. None of those choices change the flow of the story, though. There are no routes to branch into and no endings to unlock. The story progresses, and you're just along for the ride.

Okay, I know I’ve talked to you about this at some point, and then forgot to ever send anything in but gods do we need more gacha/nightmares to pull from.

I get it, they have the basic character, support, and gold based ones, but they’re not cutting it anymore in my opinion. The fact that it’s easier to obtain character cards than support cards is already an issue (and something I will certainly rant about later) but! What’s worse, is how difficult it can be to obtain a card of a certain sin.

Proposal: there are seven days in the week, there are seven sins - one sin per day (in brother order let’s say) and you can summon for that sin. We don’t have enough of the basic cards to do that you say? Sure we do, if you combine character and support cards it’ll be fine. Not only will it make it easier to obtain said support cards, but the player will know that regardless of whether or not they like the card, it’ll be in the sin theyre summoning for.

Solmare could also do this with the characters themselves too, (most likely a character a day every day but Sunday, and loop after two weeks) but that’s be harder and theyd have to probably throw in some old event cards to make it worth it. I doubt they’ll do this though given they give us the gacha during their birthday event but honestly, it’s probably needed more for some players.

Answering this one right after the previous one because it kind of offers some solutions to the problem listed there!

I love the idea of weekday-specific gachas. Logging in on Fridays and knowing I'd be able to pull for Lust cards for example, that might also encourage me to log on more often than usual. I'm guessing it would be a separate gacha from chapters A and M, and maybe free pulls would be much less common if at all, but in return you'd have more control of your result by knowing what sin it's going to be.

If you combine chapters A and M, there are over 40 cards of each sin, so it wouldn't be a huge problem. And I think it's pretty normal for these sorts of games to have certain things going on on certain days of the week, so it's a little weird that OM doesn't have anything like that.

I agree that they probably aren't going to do a more readily available character-specific gacha outside of the birthday one, but even if just for that once a year gacha they brought back some old exclusive cards for that character to make it worth it it'd still be cool. They could even just do like, the birthday SSRs from the previous years. That would be nice for the people who just hadn't started playing on time. (I'm not saying the URs because while I'd love for that I really don't think they ever would lol).

And you should DEFINITELY talk about support cards more, I'm very much looking forward to your breakdown of why they're featured and pushed aside at the same time
