The idea of John expressing/indicating his fondness for Yassen to Ash after Malta is just so funny to me. Like realistically John probably gave that impression before already, but just picturing Ash newly out of the hospital, still using a cane to walk, his stomach held together with stitches, Blunt demoted him and when he goes to talk to his friend John, who saved his life, John is just like 'ah yes, Yassen, very talented kid'. Honestly no wonder Ash decided to defect

potential hot take, I think Eagle Strike is my favorite AR book BEHIND ONLY SNAKEHEAD AND SCORPIA IN THAT ORDER. like it's Snakehead supremacy ofc, and Scorpia is in fact the craziest lore drop of all time and too iconic not to have at #2, but there has always just been something about Eagle Strike to me

we have Yassen at his absolute best.

we have the gaslighting campaign of the millenium sponsored by MI6.

we have Alex at the top of his bitchiness game.

and imo we are also nearing the peak of Horowitz shenanigans without going too far (see: Ark Angel). like we have the dude who was killed with nickles. Alex has to do the irl video game thing. there was the bullfight. pickpocket!Alex. and ofc ending scene on Air Force One

and do not get me STARTED on the picnic scene i could write essays. ESSAYS.
