this is me just posting but in my lil universe/headcanon:

deuce would not function well trying to be non-monogamous. he supports people who are, but he would not be able to. his entire relationship with cleo, he was being broken up with constantly. with dex, he finally has a more healthy relationship where it’s just him and dex, and that’s it. it’s simple, it’s perfect, it’s a safe haven.

and for once, deuce has someone who is just his. and he’s not sharing.
