“do you ever feel like this isn’t the first time you’ve been alive? like you’ve done all this before?” (Natasha @ Andrei from sncwfated bc I cant resist the no one else references)
Reincarnation AU starters | @sncwfated
It had started to snow as Andrei had been waiting for the bus, dim moonlight barely filtering through the orange glow of the streetlights. She’d been the only other one waiting at the stop when he’d gotten there, and the winter chill grasped at his ears and ruffled her hair as they waited.
Even though the app had revealed the bus to, once again, be running late, he didn’t find it within himself to be irritated, not when she turned her bright smile to him. She was right, he realized -- there was a strange sort of déjà vu about their meeting, yet he was sure he would’ve remembered her if they’d met before.
(And yet there was something, like trying to remember a dream, tugging at his thoughts, foggy and distorted. No, just look, what a moon! Ah, how lovely!)
“Maybe,” Andrei said, smiling slightly and surprised to hear himself say it, and he looked up at the snow falling from the cloudy sky above. It landed on his eyelids and melted, and he blinked at the wetness. There was something about her that made him want to join her train of thought instead of cynically raising an eyebrow, and it was that which compelled him to add, “though I hope I haven’t done everything before.”

SEND ME A CHARACTER OR A SHIP, AND I’LL ANSWER WITH FIVE SONGS I ASSOCIATE WITH THEM! | @flowcrsoul
(this was hard, all of the ones you sent were hard.)
1. “Flight From the City” -- Jóhann Jóhannsson
2. “It’s Quiet Uptown” / “It’s Quiet Uptown” -- Kelly Clarkson / Brittain Ashford (I cannot in good conscience call this two separate songs, but they are two slightly different vibes)
3. “Sonya Alone” -- Brittain Ashford
4. “Pieces, Parts” -- Prairie Empire
(this last choice is a lil’ dubious because I simply Don’t Have a Lot of Music For Them)
5. “Holy Ground” -- Sarah Slean
"You will live as you live in any world…with difficulty, and grief." (mom friend su @ cass, sncwfated here)
deathless ♚ sentence meme | @sncwfated
Cassandra pressed her lips together, looking back out at the glittering expanse of sea before them. Narnian spring was bright and lively -- a stark contrast to the wet, green-grey springs of Whitestone. Everything in Narnia was colorful and bursting with life, and there had already been times on this visit where Cassandra had just felt exhausted by it, looking at a joy that she could not, no matter how she tried, keep up with. Perhaps she was merely too empty for Narnia; she could not fill herself up with either the sunshine or the hope that permeated the air, as the Narnians had.
Queen Susan was the only one who had seemed to notice, and she had pulled Cassandra away for some quietness on the beach, with only the two of them and the sea. The sand was a strange sensation between her fingers and the sky was such a bright blue it looked like a bolt of fabric, but it still felt like a reprieve, nevertheless.
It was in this moment that Cassandra remembered Susan had been friends with Vesper, once. Susan reminded her of Vesper, and Cassandra let out a heavy breath. The waves rolled in and out against the shore with a sound like the wind through leaves. “Sometimes I think I can live with that... but then the next day I find that no, I’m not happy with that at all.” Cassandra looked at Susan with a slight smile, but one that spoke more of wryness than anything else. “That would be the ‘difficulty’ of it, I suppose.”
‘ with your sweetened breath and your tongue so mean, you’re the angel of small death and the codeine scene. ’ (@ cass, is anya flirting or being a nerd?? modern, if you're feeling that, sncwfated here)
HOZIER SENTENCE STARTERS | @sncwfated
Cassandra bit back a laugh as, once again, she leaned out of Anya’s leaning in for a kiss. They were at a charity gala, both of their entire families were there, and they both were, ostensibly, supposed to be working.
Still, even though she wouldn’t let her girlfriend kiss her in such a public setting, Cassandra did figure she could be excused if she let her siblings take on the brunt of the people-pleasing tonight. Besides, with all the times Percy had snuck out of these events to hang out with his girlfriend, Cassandra thought this was making things rather even. She, at least, wasn’t fleeing the floor.
“I thought,” Cassandra said as she looped her arm through Anya’s, pulling them together as she set her wineglass aside, her blue eyes crinkling, “that your sister told you not to make a scene tonight.” Not that Cassandra ever expected Anya to listen to Tatiana, but she did like to indulge in some teasing now and again.
JACK | starter for @sncwfated
Jack flipped a penny into his palm, grinning as he stuck his hands back in his pockets. Thanks, Mister President -- gonna eat like a king tonight! It’d been a good headline today, and he’d only had to shout “McKinley” and “Manilla” before those papers had been snatched up quicker’n you could spit. So he had the rest of the afternoon free to do what he liked, after he checked in on some of the other boys to see how they were doing. (It’d be a stupid newsie that didn’t make short work of the war news, but Elmer wasn’t always the sharpest knife in the drawer.)
He was meandering vaguely towards Battery Park when he spotted a familiar shock of red hair and yelled, waving, even though her back was to him as she hurried down the city streets. “Hey! Hey, Sophs!” He jogged up to her side, swinging his cap back on his head. “Your day off too, huh? Ain’t we a lucky bunch,” he said, grinning.
NIKOLUSHKA | starter for @sncwfated
His father’s St. Petersburg house was grand, and Nikolushka had never been there before. (Grandfather had only ever taken the household to Moscow, and even then, that was Grandfather’s house, not Papa’s.) This house was different, and the decorations and furniture were different, and so were all the servants (though his tutor and nurse had moved here too, which was comforting). Nikolushka kept getting lost, so Papa had told him to stay with Dessales or the nurse.
It was like a good dream, waking up and knowing that Papa was in the house, that he might be able to go see him and talk to him. But... it had only been a few days since Aunt Marya Nikolaevna had returned to Bald Hills, and Nikolushka missed her. He missed her leading him through prayers, and taking his hand, and hearing her voice, and though he knew he was getting too big to cry, he just couldn’t help it, especially when it got dark. Today was Sunday, and Nikolushka was sitting at the window, wondering if they would go to church like he and Aunt Marya did in Moscow. Carriages and people milled by past the window, and so Nikolushka didn’t hear Papa’s new wife -- Aunt Marya had told him she was to be his Stepmama, and to be very polite -- come in at first. He jumped down from the window seat, and clasped his hands behind his back like his papa did. “Hello - I mean, good morning. ...Stepmama,” he said, biting his lip and looking up at her.
