We just wanted to let you all know we're still around and to apologize for having been scarce on the main the past week or so. All our personal lives exploded at around the same time, hence the slow movement on accepting apps and answering questions. 

We're back in the swing of things now though, so expect to see some accepted apps soon!

Re: Bio length and brevity.

Hey guys! We're starting to receive OC bio rewrites which is fantastic, as it brings us closer to our goal of reopening in early February. We'd just like to quickly address something that isn't really an "issue" per se, but more of a quiet plea from us admins.

Generally speaking, our bio lengths have always been more or less the same length, with 3-4 paragraphs that sums up the character's past, present, and personality. Searching through sections like the taken Glee characters will provide a good example. 

That being said, we ask that you keep OC bios the same length. We know everyone loves to go in-depth with their babies, and that's totally understandable, but for consistency's sake we ask that you adhere to this request. We've had it pointed out to us in the past by RPC/Hs that the inconsistent bio lengths is a problem (example review here) and so during this reboot, we'd like to try and fix that so the page looks less messy. 

What a lot of players end up doing is creating a separate bio page on their character's blog after acceptance, and so you're totally free to post the full-length, detailed bio on a separate page or in a post on your character's blog if that's what you decide to do. But for the main page and for archiving purposes, we ask that the bios be kept to the general 3-4 paragraph length. And yes, we will ask you to shorten it if it's too long.

Canons ahoy!

With the OC roundup completed, we'll be going through and purging all the OCs who won't be returning, as well as freeing up their face claims. 

That being said, it's now time for everyone who plays a canon character to decide: are you keeping them, or not? This will be a little easier on us, considering all we have to do is move bios around from 'taken' to 'open' instead of removing them from the tag system completely and letting them float in the ether. 

Seeing as this is somewhat of a less drastic decision than deciding whether or not to discard an OC (a canon character will always exist in the group/universe of Search & Destroy, whereas an OC is quite literally your brainchild and baby) we'll be giving everyone until Monday, January 20th, which is five days from now, to decide. Just send us as quick and concise a message as possible, something along the lines of I'll be keeping X but dropping Y and Z. 

Also, regarding anyone who wants to make changes to their OC's bio(s), you can start sending us updated bios starting tomorrow, January 16th. Let us know which character's bio you're updating (remember, OCs only; we handle the canons) and shoot us a submit. 

Phew, a lot of work, but we're getting there!!

Last day for the OC roundup.

This is just a friendly reminder to everyone who's refollowed the main blog that today's the last day to reclaim your OCs before their face claims are set free. Full explanation/instructions are in this post here. 

We've already heard back from a lot more people than I was expecting which is awesome.

More housekeeping.

This message applies only to people who play an OC, so if your only characters are all canons, you can disregard this message. (Or read it if you're bored, I won't judge.)

We're trying to get a feel for which face claims we can release into the wild and which bios we can remove so we don't need to worry about them, and a major part of that includes knowing who's going to continue playing their OCs and who's not. This saves us time when remaking the character graphics and it also lets us know which face claims will be fair game again.

Therefore, everyone has until Tuesday, January 14th (a full week from today) to send a message to the main letting us know who you'll be continuing to play and who you're letting go.

It's a big decision, I know, so that's why we're giving everyone a week to figure it out (and also to give those who haven't yet heard the news of a possible reboot time to figure it out for themselves). 

If we haven't heard from you by that Tuesday, we'll assume you're not coming back and all the face claims of whatever OCs you play will be considered free and fair game. Their bios will also be 'removed' (not deleted, but just un-tagged so they're unsearchable). 

For people playing Initiative members, there will be no more Initiative but you're free to hang onto your character and rewrite his/her bio in any way you choose. They don't even have to be human anymore if you like; you can swap species if that's what you want to do. (Don't message us with an updated bio yet - we'd like to work on who we can remove first before we start turning to who'd like to change up their OCs' bios.)

Also, I'm assuming most former members have already heard the news by now, but there's nothing wrong with spreading the word if you think there's someone who's missed the memo about a possible reboot! Let them know what's up so they have time to figure out if they'd like to come back or not.
