5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

Childhood by The Rose it’s one of My fave songs recently and it’s just heartbreaking to think of Severus in the context of never having HAD a childhood. A very close second is pretty much the entirety of Orchestra of Wolves by Gallows by virtue of its just a very… angry but straightforward album.

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

We are both angry little men with daddy issues and manipulation is in our blood, are an INFJ, made baaaaf choices in life, and get far too little sleep in the name of working of doing shit for other people. I headcanon Severus as being autistic too so, we are twins.

15. What's your favorite ship for this character? (Doesn't matter if it's canon or not.)

Currently, Snupin Snucius and Snack. They’re just fun to explore but I’ve got a small love for Jeverus for the same reason, though I haven’t played with it nearly as much.

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?

I deeply love fics where Severus is a touch starved little trollop. Someone that NEEDS touch something fierce that blooms under it and is incapable of asking for it at all ever. I also love ones where he has A Vice that isn’t drinking but nearly as bad. My fave is when he smokes like a damn train but only herbals (one of the themes to a fic im working on hehe) or he is heavily into BDSM and it’s unhealthy at first until he is taken care of properly (another theme to another fic I’m working on)

3. Obscure headcanon

Tobias is in prison for Eileen’s murder, though it’s uncertain whether he really did kill her or she killed herself. His health is deteriorating and Snape gets occasional letters from the prison with updates, inviting him to visit. He reads them in the hopes of the final letter. Disappointed, he burns them.

4. Favorite line

Canon: “Has it ever crossed your brilliant mind that I don’t want to do this anymore?”

Mine: “People would say we made her - but I believe she made us.”

8. Unpopular opinion about them

He doesn’t smoke and he hates cigarettes (because his father smoked 20+ a day and often used cigarette butts as weapons)

24. Most annoying habit

Locking himself in his study for hours on end, forgetting to eat, wash, etc. Most efficiently remedied by the sound of one (or both) of the twins crying.

27. Their guilty pleasure

Disney films. He used to watch them with his mother, and gladly watches them with April and Ariadne. His first public outing after the war was to take Abbie and Sephy to see Mulan (really they were taking him)

42. 3 comfort items

1. The notebook he writes his poems in. All his feelings are laid out in there, and no other soul is allowed to see it, not even Sephy.

2. The photo album Abbie gave him with her childhood photos inside. He looked at it a lot when she was at college, and sometimes Sephy would tell him the stories behind each picture.

3. A book Sephy left lent him during their spy years and never took back before she left. She’s written in some of the margins, and Snape read it so much during those 14 years he had them all memorised.

I realized that since Abbie spent 4 years in the US, she could probably do an American accent pretty well 🤔

Maybe she’d come home and annoy her parents with it lol

I have been thinking lately about her accent, I don’t think she’ll have picked one up but she definitely picks up some words and a bit of a twang which absolutely pisses Snape off — there’s a moment in the next chapter where she refers to “Sophomore year” and he’s just like “what the fuck is a Sophomore”

also on the subject of accents generally:

Sephy has a southern accent with a rough edge to it. Although she’s from the north like Snape, it’s a posher area and her adoptive parents are originally from the south so she picked up their accents

Abbie is fairly well-spoken as she grew up around Sephy’s accent, but growing up in London she does have a bit of a London accent which is more pronounced when she sings (I kind of imagine her to sound like Kate Nash)

As a Black Country girl, I naturally want Snape to be from around here, but I also love the idea of him having a Yorkshire accent growing up. Either way, he hates his “common” accent so when he’s at Hogwarts he has Lucius teach him how to speak “properly”, and so he ends up with the almost forced formal speech we know and love today.

I’ve established that Sephy is not from Cokeworth but she is from somewhere close enough that both places share the same hospital, and close enough that Eileen can get to the church in Sephy’s village on a Sunday. If he’s from the Black Country, I’d say perhaps he’s from the Telford or Wolverhampton area and she’s from Shrewsbury. Telford and Wolverhampton (my home town!) are both steeped in industrial history so it would make absolute sense for Cokeworth to be around there.

Whereas if they’re from further north, I don’t know the geography as much but I’m sure @sevsnapes has some better idea as our resident northerner

Also, on a related note, their new cottage is in a remote area on the south coast of Cornwall, the nearest muggle town being Lamorna

I am a very casual pokemon fan, like I can’t name them all off the top of my head or anything and I haven’t played all the games but I’ve played some of them. I def remember X and Y being dope, and I bought my first switch just to play Sword and Shield which I don’t think I liked as much

✿ did anything major change when you started writing Soul of Ice to when you finished?

Snape was gonna still die at the end! his relationship with Abbie was going to be strained until the end and the tragedy was going to be that Abbie never got to have that resolution to their relationship

I vastly underestimated her ability to worm her way into his life 😀
