Woke up this morning and my wife was trying to play Mother 3, and it wasn't working. It had been weird all week (requiring multiple attempts to prompt an error message before it would finally boot into the GBA emulator) but now even that wasn't working. It would attempt to load, but the controller wouldn't respond.

So I spent two hours fucking with it to find out what the problem was and it turned out that the GBA emulator I had put on there a hundred years ago was old, or something, and I guess our workaround finally corrupted something and I had to reflash the whole thing. Which I did, and now it's working perfectly... except her save was somehow reverted to an older one. She lost about 2 hours of progress, which is better than 10, but I'm still very confused as to how that could have happened.

Now she's sad because she has to play through arsehole torturing the monkey again :(

Review of 8BitDo Retro Receiver for NES Classic, SNES Classic, Wii & Wii U

After playing some Wii games using the 8BitDo NES/SNES Classic Retro Receiver, I have lots of input to address.

O The receiver works with the Wii, but compatibility is hit or miss.

O It works well with Super Smash Bros. Project M and its hacks; the +Control Pad, L button and R button must be disabled in order for the Bluetooth controllers to work without any glitchy inputs.

O The receiver works flawlessly with Puyo Puyo!! 20th anniversary.

O The receiver works well with the Samurai Shodown Anthology, at least with Samurai Shodown III: Blades of Blood. I have yet to test out Samurai Shodown VI and make sure L and R can be disabled.

X The receiver doesn't work with GUILTY GEAR XX ACCENT CORE. I doubt it would work on ACCENT CORE PLUS.

X The adapter isn't optimized for the Wii completely. In fact, channels never stop changing when a channel is selected on the Wii Menu. Also, the adapter screws up the homebrew channel and makes the adapter unusable in the Visual Controller Test application, making the currently-attached Wii Remote unresponsive.

X Most homebrew apps will not accept the receiver, including WiiSXRX (and the WiiStation builds), SNES9X GX and Nintendont. Therefore, a Wii-to-GameCube controller adapter is needed, which I haven't tested yet.

It's good for what it's worth, but the better solution is to buy more PS2-to-Wii controller adapters and 8BitDo PS2 Retro Receivers unless you plan to use the NES/SNES Classic Retro Receiver solely for Project M and its related hacks.

Sorry for not posting lately, got caught up in other things....BUT I HAVE GREAT NEWS. I finally bought my 1st capture card, so I can finally record some games on actual hardware. Also, I found and purchased a SNES Classic at a yard sale yesterday for $30! (They stopped making them in 2019) The thing was like new and came with all the accessories, I took the liberty of modding it and adding my own games to it as well.
