albedo is a homunculus, created more than 500 years ago in khaenriāah by gold and rhinedottir. gold was the one to come up with the concept and build the body of albedo while rhinedottir, goldās teacher and albedoās future master, was the one to actually bring albedo to life.
originally, albedo was created to be a servant to the prince of khaenriāah so that the abyss order - a secret organization plotting the downfall of the blacksun dynasty - wouldnāt harm him. unbeknownst to everyone, however, the plans gold had created for albedoās creation were not for a protector, but rather a weapon to destroy the entire kingdom. eventually, rhinedottir discovered goldās plan and he was arrested, albedo eventually being taken away from khaenriāah by rhinedottir so that she could begin to help him become more human than weapon in an attempt to prevent goldās plan from coming into fruition.
for about 500 years, albedo travelled with his master, learning alchemy and other human skills that he lacked ( socializing, compassion, self autonomy, etc. ). eventually, rhinedottir received news of goldās supposed survival from the fall of khaenriāah and, knowing that he would be searching for both her and albedo, left albedo to go meet gold alone, leaving her student one final assignment in hopes that when he fully discovered his origins, he would be human enough to defy his fate. ( albedoās final assignment: to discover the truth and the meaning of this world. albedoās answer: the meaning of this world... is to live a happy life. ).
eventually, after wandering around on his own for a few years, albedo finally decided to follow his masterās orders and go to mondstadt, joining the knights of favonius as their chief alchemist and captain of the investigation team and slowly uncovering the meaning of not only this world, but his own life.
PHYSICAL:
albedoās body is a mixture of both human flesh, soapstone, and chalk; more-so soapstone and chalk than flesh. this is because when gold was coming up with the concept of albedo, he wanted to be able to heal his weapon with alchemy should it get injured.
while it certainly looks human, albedoās skin lacks a certain warmth to it. if one were to touch his skin, it would feel like touching a bar of cold, dry soap. the only skin that feels and looks different is the skin at his fingertips which is a pure white due them mainly being made of chalk, resulting in his wearing gloves. despite how soft his skin looks, albedoās body is fairly sturdy, requiring a lot of force before it even begins to crack or chip and able to withstand high temperatures.
albedoās blood, while the same color and consistency as human blood, is more akin to liquid scarlet quartz, resulting in him being able to brave the colder temperatures with little protection and even use his blood to create warmth / fire. his saliva and tears, while being primarily water, are lightly speckled with flecks of chalk, giving the liquid a cloudy appearance. his āĀ blood ā also contains flecks of chalk.
the only parts of albedo that are more flesh / human than stone are his facial features ( eyes, nose, mouth, hair, etc. ) and his pelvic area. however, he has no internal organs ( stomach, lungs, liver, etc. ) and all of his external human features are purely cosmetic.
OTHER:
when albedo gets injured, he doesnāt feel any pain from where the injury came from. rather, any part of him that gets injured becomes numb and loses some to all mobility based on how serious the wound is. if any part of him that is stone becomes injured, albedo can use alchemy to repair himself so long as he has soil / earth around him.
due to not having internal organs, albedo doesnāt need to eat to survive. while he does occasionally eat to keep up the appearance of being human, it isnāt something he necessarily enjoys due to not being able to taste any of the food he ā consumes ā ( turns into other elements thanks to alchemy ). as such, if he does eat, he only eats small portions so that he can properly gauge when others are satisfied with his consumption. he also prefers sweets over meats and wet / juicy foods due to the liquid needing more energy to convert into something else.
another consequence of albedo not having internal organs is the fact that he has to remind himself to breathe. since he doesnāt have lungs, albedo doesnāt see a reason to breathe and has had to forcibly pavlov himself into ā breathing ā around other people. still, if he is incredibly focused on something, he will forget to breathe and his chest will become deathly still, worrying those around him.
while albedo doesnāt need sleep, he does need ā rest ā. at times, he finds himself hitting a brick wall with his research and will usually step back and take a break, either doodling, reading, or ā napping ā ( closing his eyes and simply being still ) for a short hour or two. at night, when itās time for bed, heāll simply lock himself up in his lab and be extra quiet while continuing his work so that otherās think he is asleep.
so far, the only people aware of albedo not being entirely human are sucrose, kaeya, and klee. sucrose, while she is 90% sure about albedo not being human hasnāt said anything to him about her knowing due to how awkward she is. kaeya, on the other hand, had actually confronted albedo about his past which led to the two discussing their history and ties to khaenriāah, establishing somewhat of a bond and a mutual agreement to not disclose the otherās secret between them. klee, for as young as she is, was actually the first to know, having seen albedoās chalk - coated fingertips and blood after he had gotten injured protecting her. she swore to keep albedoās true nature a secret and so far has kept her word aside for the fact that albedoās nickname - the chalk prince / kreideprinz - being a result of her deeming him as such.
