What is up with video games making their Snipers sexy?

Like, in almost all of the video games I’ve played where there is a character who’s a sniper, they’ve been sexy or certainly have sexy fanart.

Karl Fairburne from Sniper Elite (Specifically 4) is starting off this list. He’s smart, he’s polite, and he cares about other people to the point where he will put himself in danger to secure vaccines for people he’ll never meet.

Also, his voice actor has one of the best voices I’ve heard in a video game.

Next up is the Sniper from Team Fortress Two, aka Mr. Mundy.

This guy prides himself on his professionalism and politeness. As such, you’d think all his voice lines are calm, quiet, and polite. NOPE. This guy is high energy, snarky, and the people who play him taunt after every kill. He has generated an enormous amount of sexual fanart with notable artists such as THE OFFICIAL COMIC ARTISTS OF TF2!!

Also, his voice actor did an amazing job. High energy with occasional grumpy muttering. Really good job on him.

Now, this one, these two are obviously made to be sexy because either the game devs were just really horny about all of their female characters or because they are a dateable character.

Widowmaker from “The TF2 Killer, no really, this will be the game that ends TF2,” Overwatch.

This one, yeah, she, uh….If you look at all the other lady Designs for Overwatch, you’ll see a certain theme of “Let’s make them Sexy”.

Now, the sniper-who-is-designed-to-be-sexy-but-I-can-excuse-that-because-reason is Quincy Issacs from Warframe.

Now this guy has an excuse to be sexy because he’s got an ingame dating system. He’s hot, he’s polite, he’s Maybe-Jamaican-I-Don’t-know-I’m-American-I-Can-tell-Spanish-from-English-and-that’s-it, he is allowed to make sexual jokes and cuss, this dude’s got it all. He cares a lot about other people (even though he doesn’t show it immediately on the surface.) (oh, and did I mention you can date him in an ingame dating system?)

And again, the VA did an amazing job with him! Sometimes his accent gets thicker or he uses more slang, and I like that. The VA is just sublime.

Anyway, why are all of these snipers made to be sexy? Like, I know I provided reasons for the last two, but the first two don’t have any good explanation for why they are so hot.
