Greetings from both Gestahlt of snk-notes and me at almost 5am in Singapore! In lieu of posting anything worthwhile while I actually have internet access, you guys get our first attempt (both of ours) at a voice meme. Because what else would we do when we're actually in the same room, much less the same hemisphere, armed with booze, 19 episodes of SnK, and very little sleep? Dumb shit, that's what.

In our defense, this has been a pretty productive meet up... if you consider it within the context of the fact that we've essentially come to Singapore to drink and marathon one of the most heart-wrenching series in recent anime/manga history. Brainstorming has been had, yada yada, so we did manage to recharge and crank up our crack machine. All's well that ends well? :D

DISCLAIMER: WE'RE NOT ACTUALLY ALCOHOLICS. Instead, we're doing questionable things--like attempting to do a voice meme drunk, but running out of alcohol (in addition to having naturally high tolerances), and deciding to post the thing without any sleep. We are prime examples of what you should not do if you're attempting to mimic responsible adults.

There's more shit to come (i.e. photographic documentation of our Attack on MIdori and our Attack on Singapore). Such things will follow when Gestahlt gets back home and I ultimately leave Singapore.

aaahhHHH after recently typing up several posts about the common language and "dead" languages of SnK, seeing your headcanons related to it made me very happy because they can align hella well with all the stuff I've already written and just wow you always have the most quality headcanons anyway even when they're crack

Hello there fellow linguist-aficionado-anon! I am happy that my word vomit made you happy, and also that there’re more people out there who spend more time than necessary poking and prodding at SnK’s sociocultural bases. COMRADES. There are just so many other Relevant Questions regarding the SnK universe languages alone—like, what script was it that Ymir read “TUNA?” What alphabet/written system are they using? Are there schools? What is the literacy rate? ARE YOU THERE, ISAYAMA??

You’ll have to thank Gestahlt of SnK-Notes for that last headcanon though. But for her crack headcanon scenario, I’d pretty much shelved--indefinitely--the idea of Rivaille Levi possessing some sort of french influence. It’s just when Gestahlt writes stuff, I’m generally compelled to make some sort of sense out of it. Especially if it’s crack. (Because the best kind of crack is that which is based in some sort of logic, non? ;>)

PSA: Chinese Translations Available for Certain Headcanons, Notes, & Rumours

Just wanted to give a shout-out to huminghan and rowynm for being awesome and translating some of the choicier notes, headcanons, and rumours into Chinese. 谢谢您们的翻译工夫! 

For headcanon translations, they're available on rowynm's weibo (you'll need an account to view them). As for the notes/rumours, huminghan has kindly provided them as screenshot images, and they should be linked in the A/Ns of the original posts. I'll do my best to keep the SnK-Headcanon's masterlist updated with whether something has been translated (but if I miss something, please let me know).

(Also, I cannot stop laughing over huminghan's translator-comments in the 100 Rumours post. They're seriously adorable, at times hilarious, and almost make me want to reverse-translate them into english, ahahaha. The bonus images she used to illustrate/enhance some of the rumours are A+ too! Even if you're unfamiliar with Chinese, you should check them out. They're very appropriate. XD)
